About the team
The opportunity
The role will be responsible for facilitating and enabling delivery of ARWA projects in the successful realisation of waste management and disposal solutions through the application of systems engineering. As the Systems Engineer you will assist with the management of requirements and provide advice and expertise to other teams in the implementation of systems engineering processes across ARWA projects.The Systems Engineer will provide guidance to other technical disciplines in the application of these processes which will include the elicitation and lifecycle management of requirements relating to disposal, treatment, and waste packaging systems. More widely, you will also contribute to developing a systems engineering approach within ARWA and promoting implementation of relevant processes across programs and projects.

- Develop and manage comprehensive system engineering plans and technical specifications for radioactive waste management systems.
- Conduct system design, analysis, and integration activities to ensure seamless operation and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify system requirements and ensure they are effectively implemented.
- Oversee the assessments of technologies through Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) process and plan R&D activities in alignment with design staging.• Assist with the development, improvement, and implementation of systems engineering processes and procedures.
- Assess and identify improvements to systems engineering practices across ARWA and contribute to the implementation of enhancements.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must:Be an Australian citizen or in the process of obtaining Australian Citizenship before commencement. You may be asked to provide evidence of this.
Undertake a pre-employment security assessment and subsequent security clearance. All staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance however some roles will require a higher level security clearance. If you are offered a role and do not have a current security clearance, we will work with you to arrange for this to be undertaken.
Be medically fit to undertake the duties of the job.
Intrastate and interstate travel including overnight stay may be required.
A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles. This vacancy is SA - Adelaide - Flinders St based, although flexible or remote work arrangements may be considered. Please reach out to the contact officer to discuss this further.
