Data plays a key role in supporting these developments within client : data is increasingly an enabler for the decision -making process (operational, tactical, strategic). However, we are confronted with a number of data-related challenges, which is why client wants to focus on, among other things:

• Setting up data domains . All client data is assigned to a domain, to which an owner is assigned. The owner then becomes accountable for the data in his domain. He is supported by the data steward , who is responsible for monitoring data quality etc.

• The switch from IT-led data products to business-led data products . The responsibility for qualitative, timely delivered data products lies with business. The elaboration of the data products is then done via multidisciplinary (business and IT) teams of which the data steward is also a member.

• Extensive training and coaching , including for data stewards , to enable and support the transition.

• Governance of all this is important and will also be set up ( incl. for data stewards).

So it is clear that the Data Steward plays a crucial role in our data-driven ambitions!
Service Description:
Important tasks include:

• Based on a good understanding of the business processes, the service develops and maintains a business glossary for the relevant data domain, and ensures the consistent use of this terminology throughout the organization. The service defines, documents and tracks the Data Quality rules and Data Lineage on the data, managed in the data domain, proactively.

• The service monitors the usage of the domain data across the entire organization.

• The service proactively defines and tracks KPIs around data governance and data quality.

• The service analyses underlying causes (root cause analysis) when the current value of a KPI does not match the target value; and proposes solutions (curative actions or long-term solutions ) of which the service closely monitors the implementation. For this, the service will work closely with business and IT.

• The service participates in cross-cutting projects where data from domains is used and linked to ensure a consistent and effective architecture.

• The service supports the data owner within his domain and contributes to the development of data products.

• The service is the point of contact for all data in the relevant data domain.

• The service communicates the importance and best practices in data governance to colleagues in the team, so that data driven culture is further developed.

Together with fellow “data stewards”, active in other data domains, the service contributes to new initiatives to further anchor DQ and data governance within client Group .
Additional requirements:

• The service is familiar with the electricity sector or able to quickly gain insight into this sector and the underlying concepts.

• The service has several years of experience as a data steward.

• The service has experience in SQL, Python, … or analytical tools.

• The service is familiar with data models and IT architecture.

• Thanks to analytical skills, the service tackles complex problems in a simple and structured manner.

• The service is familiar (processes & tools) with data management, data quality management, metadata management. Concepts like business glossary ; data lineage , data contracts , … have no secrets.

• The service is proactive and responsible.

• The service has a hands-on mentality.

• Communication skills enable the service to run workshops smoothly, taking a leadership role where necessary.

• The service enjoys working with others and is a team player.

• The service is very persuasive. The service speaks fluent Dutch and/or French and you are proficient in English
