We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in the Machinery Manufacturing industry, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Payroll Specialist will be crucial in overseeing our payroll processes, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all employee payments. This role plays a pivotal part in maintaining payroll records and providing support for payroll-related inquiries.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the accurate and timely calculation of employee wages, including overtime, bonuses, and other deductions.
• Monitor and maintain payroll records including timesheets, pay rates, and other related information.
• Coordinate with IT and HR to troubleshoot and implement updates to the payroll system.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
• Manage direct deposits, wage garnishments, tax withholdings, and other payroll deductions.
• Prepare and distribute payroll on a regular basis, addressing any payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Respond to employee inquiries about payroll, deductions, and tax issues.
• Prepare and submit payroll reports to management, accounting, and HR departments.
• Assist in the onboarding process by setting up new hires in the payroll system.
• Ensure the payroll system is functioning correctly and efficiently.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems is essential for maintaining accurate and efficient payroll records.
• Familiarity with Dayforce is beneficial for managing employee data and processing payroll.
• Demonstrable understanding of accounting functions is necessary to ensure all financial records are in order.
• Knowledge of benefit functions is required to accurately calculate and distribute employee benefits.
• Experience with Payworks is valuable for handling various payroll tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in using Concur Expense is needed to manage and process employee expenses accurately.
