Your role

Are you curious and interested in a wide range of topics? Do you have several ideas for reports with precise and original angles? As a reporter-editor at Radio-Canada Ottawa-Gatineau’s newsroom, you will be responsible for covering regional news from Outaouais, Ottawa, and the surrounding areas.
Under the supervision of the assignment editor, you will be expected to produce content in various formats that could appear on our digital platforms, on the radio, in Téléjournal Ottawa-Gatineau, and in vertical video formats.
You must have a good knowledge of Ottawa and Gatineau issues, as well as the key players in regional news, to be able to quickly inform our audiences about topics that affect them.
Our team works with a spirit of collaboration, rigor, and creativity to meet and adapt to the needs of our audiences. We are looking for a proactive, informed, resourceful, and meticulous individual to create and enhance our journalistic content.
Your work will be governed by Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices, which you must be well-acquainted with, and you must demonstrate responsibility with a constant commitment to maintaining public trust.
There are three (3) full-time permanent positions to fill. You may be required to work on weekends, early mornings, or late evenings.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • University education (or the equivalent) in journalism, communications or a related field
  • Three (3) years’ directly related experience that includes proven ability in the field, as well as knowledge of TV/radio broadcasting and Radio-Canada’s various platforms
  • Relevant experience putting together and delivering reports and live hits
  • Strong interviewing, writing and storytelling skills
  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate and its Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • Knowledge of Eastern Ontario and Outaouais social, political, cultural, and economic life
  • Familiarity with general regional, provincial and national current affairs
  • Superior French-language skills (spoken and written) and good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Knowledge of production applications (e.g., i NEWS, Dalet, Media Central) in use at CBC/Radio-Canada an asset
  • Solid news sense, editorial judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Very high aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Resourceful and self-starter
  • Interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate your day-to-day work so as to meet tight deadlines; ability to work well under pressure
  • Creative, enterprising and inquisitive approach to fact- and news-gathering
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
