Job Description — Warehouse Associate (Shipper / Receiver)
General Description:
To receive, organize and ship products.
Essential Duties:

• Operating a Counter-balance Lift Truck to unload from trailers, parked in warehouse doors, either boxed office furniture or furniture on pallets and deliver and place such material in racking bins to be staged for subsequent picking.
• Operating a Counter-balance Lift Truck to pick either boxed office furniture or furniture on pallets and deliver such material to be staged for loading on to, or to load onto trailers parked at warehouse doors.
• Scan product before loading to ensure data is accurate (correct customer, destination, etc) Keep work area clean.
• Follow safe work practices.

Work Environment:

• Nearly all the work day (eight hours) is performed indoors.
• Approximately half the work day is spent within a trailer parked in a shipping door of the production unit.
• The production unit is heated. There is no air conditioning in summer and there is some minor exposure to the elements in winter.
• Illumination is provided by overhead lighting. The flooring is concrete, flat, dry and even.
• Noise: tucks backing in trailers, PA system, forklifts.

Equipment:

• Counter-balance truck, requires operational competency. Training to be provided
• Lift Trucks have either clamp or fork attachments to facilitate this work.
• Bar code scanner operated by hand. Training to be provided.

Personal protective equipment
Safety shoes/boots and seat belt.
Responsibilities:

• Constant attention to detail for both safety reasons and correct loading of product for shipping.
• Shipping area is active with movement - onloading and offloading of product, forklifts, etc.
• Cooperation with others is essential. Tasks are repetitive.

Physical Activity:

• Gripping — pinch, power and open — frequent.
• Lifting lowering/utilizing counter-balance truck.
• Push/pull — manipulate cartons, weight of cartons between 3 kg and 20 leg on average (note: numerous office furniture types and sizes),
• Sitting - constant.
• Standing — occasional.
• Neck — twisting/rotation — frequent.

There are two fifteen-minute breaks, mid-morning and mid-afternoon and a half-hour meal break after four hours.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
