As a Regional Sustainability Manager, you will play a strategic regional role supporting all businesses and functions operating within the region in their efforts in achieving PPG’s corporate sustainability targets, both internally and externally. You will analyze a broad range of legislative files around ESG/Sustainability and crystallize content of these files into business relevant drivers/opportunities to support sales growth for PPG China business leadership teams and selected AP PPG key account stakeholders. You will drive and chair the China Sustainability Regulatory Committee (CSRC).

You will report to Regional Sustainability Leader, your role will be based in Shanghai, China

Key Responsibilities
Lead PPG’s sustainability efforts throughout the region as it comes to identifying legislative files and their assessed impact on PPG and the relevant value chains.
Implement innovative approaches and strategies to further Sustainability ambitions of the company, aligning actions to overall corporate priorities.
Use knowledge and expertise to educate the region on Sustainability and ESG priorities.
Manage high complexity and associated risks and provide guidance to broader x-functional organization (i.e. multiple SBU segments, countries, regulations, number/diversity of product lines, end uses, customer complexity, circular economy initiatives)
Drive and chair the China Sustainability Regulatory Committee
Manage and optimize relationship with external sustainability legal advisor.
Coordinate, guide and mentor the regional sustainability activities. Promote the exchange of knowledge and develop a system to optimize skills and expertise regionally.
Be the regional expert on interpreting regulations and emerging issues and customer needs impacting sustainability and provide guidance for opportunities.
Communicates and influences at all levels of SBU management to build consensus around implications of forthcoming sustainability legal files.
Represent PPG and serve as a leading member on Industry or Government committees as well as PPG’s regional communication function to enhance PPG’s image as a leader in sustainability with customers, peers, and suppliers.

Qualifications
Minimum bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, sustainability, or related science, or 10 or more years of relevant experience.
Advanced degree in sustainability, chemistry, engineering, related science, or MBA preferred. Life Cycle Analysis skill is a plus.
1-3 years management experience. Work without appreciable direction while being part of a global team.
In-depth knowledge of effective Sustainability and ESG leadership and strategy execution.
Knowledge and experience in commercial, technical or product development roles; understanding customer engagement approaches and broad market knowledge of coatings technology are desirable.
Utilize detailed knowledge of key business metrics, key drivers, business vision, and manufacturing processes/challenges as applicable to drive and align Sustainability and ESG objectives.
Proficiency in written and spoken English, Chinese as a minimum, other languages seen as a plus.
