Are you looking for an internship opportunity with one of the world’s largest NGOs? If the answer is yes, you could be our new intern for the spring semester.
Who are we?
Most of DRC’s resources to help support conflict and displacement affected persons come from institutional donors such as the European Commission, UN agencies, and bilateral humanitarian and development funding envelopes from major donor countries. The Institutional Donor Unit (IDU) ensures that DRC takes a rigorous approach to address our donors and keeps abreast of new funding opportunities. The IDU is working to increase DRC’s capacity to expand, deepen, and strengthen partnerships and fundraising activities with institutional donors.
About the internship
The IDU intern will be a part of a dynamic team spread across DRC HQ, DRC representations and DRC Ukraine. Further, there will be close collaboration with the DRC Regional Business Development colleagues and across HQ departments. The intern will support the team in researching donor trends and enhancing the internal communication of donor priorities, trends and news across DRC HQ, Representations and 41 country operations. The tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Creating a new format for donor monthly updates and supporting the roll out of the monthly updates.
  • Scoping of new funding opportunities.
  • Coordinating the development of new business development tools.
  • Developing structures of workspaces and Insite pages on the DRC intranet (Insite).
  • Researching thematic trends across donors.
  • Supporting with reporting and other donor deliverables, including reviewing, summarizing and consolidating inputs for reports.
  • Helping to organise meetings and appointments as well as produce and distribute minutes of meetings.
  • Providing inputs and supporting the development of external products such as presentations.
Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to delve into various learning opportunities such as courses or presentations relevant to the IDU unit and the broader organization. We offer flexibility in the type of tasks, so you also have the possibility to influence the internship, subject to what is relevant for your study programme.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to be flexible, eager to learn and proactive. All employees and interns at DRC should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, Striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity. The intern should be able to meet the following requirements:
  • Be effective in the use of Office 365.
  • Have an interest in donor relations, fundraising, donor engagement, donor compliance and/or how NGOs fund their operations.
  • Interest in learning more about working in an international NGO.
  • Be fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Be able to work systematically with a good structure for the tasks that you are responsible for.
It is a requirement that you are enrolled in a university to be considered for the internship. Therefore, applicants should be pursuing a relevant graduate level degree, such as International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies or other related social science studies.
We offer
Contract length: 4-6 months subject to study requirements and further dialogue.
Workplace: DRC Headquarters located Borgergade 10, Copenhagen.
Start date: Mid-January or start February. We can be flexible on the start date.
Working hours: Approximately 30 hours per week, subject to study requirements and further dialogue. We offer flexibility when you have study obligations next to the internship.
The internship is not paid but we offer:
  • 2 (unpaid) vacation days per month. The days can either be spent as you earn them or be accumulated.
  • Free lunch in our canteen (subject to our canteen being open).

Please note that if you do not have the right to work in Denmark (through nationality or existing work visa), you will need to apply for it if selected for the internship. This process can take up to three months from initiating the process. You can read more here.

Application process

All applicants must send a cover letter, an updated CV in English as well as documentation that you are enrolled in a university. If you are applying for more than one internship with DRC, please indicate so in your cover letter. Apply online on our Current Vacancies page at www.drc.ngo.

Closing date for applications: 11 November, 2024. We expect to conduct interviews during November and December in our headquarters at Borgergade 10 or via Teams.
