Communications Internship

We are searching for an Intern to join us at USAID TRADE project.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
USAID’s Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) project builds on decades of U.S. investments in Egyptian businesses and economic policy with the aim of substantially increasing Egyptian exports from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The TRADE project focuses on seven selected sectors: engineering products, food processing, home textiles, ready-made garments, chemicals, printing and packaging, and building materials. Through the project, USAID works with the Government of Egypt to improve the trade and investment policy environment and reduce barriers to trade. USAID also partners with business associations and export councils to strengthen the trade services ecosystem for small- and medium-sized exporters, as well as with private companies to help them access new international markets to increase export sales. TRADE tackles many trade and investment-related issues to sustainably increase Egyptian exports and drive economic growth.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Communications Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting the Communications team with a range of communication-related tasks. Responsibilities will include both administrative duties and hands-on communication tasks, such as designing and producing visual content (including blog posts and videos), conducting social media analytics, and assisting with the planning and execution of events.
TASKS
Content Creation:
- Assist in developing and designing engaging visual content, including graphics, infographics, and multimedia elements for digital platforms.
- Help write and edit compelling text content, such as social media posts and success stories.
- Create and update presentations, posters, flyers, and other promotional materials.
- Assist in managing and updating content on TRADE’s social media channels.
- Assist in monitoring social media platforms for engagement and interactions, and report on trends and insights.
- Support the creation and scheduling of social media posts, including drafting captions and selecting visuals.
- Assist in the development and execution of TRADE’s communication strategies and campaigns.
- Help organize and coordinate events, including managing logistics, promotion, and post-event communications, such as media and public relations.
- Support the production and revision of both digital and print communication materials.
- Conduct research on industry trends, audience preferences, and competitive landscape.
- Analyze social media metrics and other data to evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts.
- Attend internal meetings and interviews to gather information for internal communications.
- Assist in writing and distributing internal newsletters, updates, and announcements.
- Draft and distribute internal updates and announcements.
- Assist with the creation of internal reports and success stories.
- Draft and edit press releases, media advisories, and other press materials.
- Assist in coordinating media outreach.
- Track media coverage and maintain a media database.
- Assist in promoting the TRADE brand through various channels and events.
- Help manage branding materials and ensure consistency across communication platforms.
- Provide general administrative support to the communications team, including scheduling meetings and managing correspondence.
- Maintain organized records of communication materials and campaign assets.
- Assist with other duties as required to support the communications department.
- Capture high-quality images and videos for various communication materials, including promotional content, social media posts, and event documentation. Ensure that all visuals align with TRADE's branding and messaging.
- Edit and enhance photos and videos to meet quality standards and specifications. Prepare final assets for publication and distribution across digital and print platforms, ensuring consistency with the overall communication strategy.
Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Fresh graduates with a University Degree in any discipline.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly and effectively.
- Collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and support various communication initiatives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all communications-related tasks.
- Excellent follow-up skills, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); proficiency in more advanced desktop publishing, graphic design, and/or data visualization software (e.g., In Design, Illustrator, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
