August 20, 2024
Vaisala is a global leader in measurement instruments and intelligence helping industries, nations, people, and the planet to thrive. From predicting hurricanes to optimizing renewable energy production, our technology is used where it matters the most – from data centers, windfarms and laboratories to airports, the Arctic and even the surface of Mars. Our team of over 2,300 experts and 59 nationalities around the world is committed to taking every measure for the planet. Driven by our shared purpose, curiosity, and pioneering spirit, we stay ahead and make a difference. At Vaisala, you don't have to fit in to belong.
Why join us?
You will have an opportunity to join a company with a great purpose and engaged, talented colleagues. As an example, the engagement index in our annual employee survey is 4.14/5. Vaisala is on top of the Financial Times’ list of European climate leaders. We are no 1 in a sustainability study that rates Finnish listed companies based on their environmental, social, and corporate governance performance. Finnish private investors also voted Vaisala the most sustainable listed company in Finland. We operate globally: our solutions are sold to over 150 countries and our colleagues are located around the globe. You will have a great observation post to monitor the megatrends central to Vaisala's strategy: climate change, renewable energy, resource efficiency, and circular economy, as well as health and well-being.
In detail,
understanding, mitigating, and adapting to climate change is at the core of Vaisala's strategy. We help our customers to establish weather observation networks and build up capabilities that improve their capacity to predict extreme weather, for example.
renewable energy creates a need for real-time forecasting and continuous monitoring to ensure stable energy production. For instance, Vaisala’s measurement technologies help customers to get more out of their wind power or biogas plants.
Vaisala’s measurement instruments help to make production processes more efficient and to save natural resources.
Vaisala’s solutions help to monitor air quality and ensure safe and healthy living, working, and production conditions inside buildings.
What's your role?
You will contribute to Vaisala group strategy development as a valued member of the team. You will collect external and internal insights and conduct analysis to provide actionable insights to be used by colleagues around the company. For example, you will collect data on megatrends relevant to Vaisala, participate in scouting and evaluating M&A targets, perform due diligence tasks for M&A processes and conduct market size and business opportunity assessments. Your role will also include managing and coordinating parts of M&A projects. You will have an opportunity to impact the responsibilities based on your own interest and competencies. You will be a member of the Group Strategy & Sustainability team and report to Chief Sustainability and Strategy Officer Anne Jalkala.
What will you bring?
Preferably at least 1-2 years of work experience with similar responsibilities preferably in M&A, and strategy
Ability and preference to work collaboratively in a team and manage projects
Strong analytical skills, ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative methods and ability to draw insights and conclusions from data
Strong presentation and communication skills
Fluency in English (Finnish is not a requirement)
Curiosity to think big and build your expertise
Ambition to drive results and grow professionally
Leading performance, not location. Our culture is trust-based. We treasure face-to-face collaboration with our colleagues, but hybrid work and flexibility are the new norm for us.
