We are seeking a procurement professional to join Metso Corporate Procurement. As Global Sourcing Category Manager, MRO you will be responsible for managing Metso MRO spend globally. In our context, the MRO category means machinery related to big factory investments, safety equipment, and hand tools. In this role, you work closely with relevant local and global stakeholders, engaging relevant local teams in matrix leadership. Your role positively impacts Metso's sustainability, growth, and profitability targets.
We need you because your predecessor is promoted to a higher position in Metso, which shows that this position provides excellent career growth opportunities. As an example, Metso is in the process of building a new site in Tampere, and you will play a central procurement role in that inspiring and important project: Metso invests EUR 150 million in a modern technology center in Tampere, Finland - Metso
The optimal location for this position is Espoo or Tampere in Finland, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. The work involves some international travel.
Team you belong to
You will join the Metso Indirect Procurement team, which is passionate about improving indirect spend management process efficiency, compliance, and cost efficiency. Metso is currently working on SAP modernization and harmonization, as well as future sourcing IT platform design, which provides us with big opportunities to drive a step change in our categories.
We work closely with internal stakeholders, covering all Metso teams and functions and with external suppliers. Our team aims to be role models of Metso values: High ambition - always, Customer in center, Getting it done - together, and Open and honest.
The members of our extended team are located in all continents.
What you'll do
For example, the Global Category Manager at Metso will establish a strong global network and governance covering all Metso Business and market Areas, lead local teams in matrix setup, develop and execute category sourcing plans, negotiate the biggest needs, and manage supplier relationships.
- Develop transparency and understanding of MRO spend and contractual status, as well as delivery process, cost drivers, and market dynamics for the relevant sub-categories globally.
- Translate business requirements and market changes into prioritized opportunities, category strategies, and roadmaps aligned with global goals.
- Be responsible for commercial relationships with global suppliers.
- Engage local teams to run tenders, negotiations, and other cost-improvement initiatives.
- Lead the bigger procurement projects, typically related to production line investments.
- Develop contractual and risk management maturity.
- Be an active member of the indirect category network globally.
- Ensure procurement's early involvement in relevant decisions through close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Develop MRO procurement performance and monitoring.
- Develop order-to-pay process for MRO items, and take an active role in the ongoing to-be procurement IT platform design and roll-out.
As our ideal candidate you have
- Sourcing experience, including negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Proactiveness, capable of independently managing priorities and daily schedules.
- Business acumen, capability to identify & drive actions improving Metso business improvements.
- Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders, change management experience, and win together as a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Analytical and strategic planning skills.
- Process development mindset, in Source to Pay and Manufacturing.
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, or production.
- Full working proficiency in English and Finnish.
