Wärtsilä Information Management (IM) is a global organisation of more than 350 IT professionals who work together to deliver best-in-class IT services in Wärtsilä. IM is responsible for operating and developing the ICT landscape, and in addition, is a strategic partner to our businesses, driving innovation to accelerate the growth of digital solutions.

We are now seeking a Head of the Development Management Office (DMO) to join and lead our forward-looking DMO team working on various IM and Business IT developments. The DMO consist of a team of Program and Project Managers, Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters as well as sub-teams for Design Services and Portfolio Management.

Position information:

This is a permanent position and the preferred location for the position is in Helsinki or Vaasa, Finland.


What you will be doing:


In this position, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of IT developments. You will lead the team of development and project management professionals, and manage the IT development model and best practices as well as the development portfolio. Work will include both supporting your team and collaborating with various IM and Business stakeholders and external partners.
For us to be the best match, we expect you to have an excellent understanding of IT development and larger-scale programs in a global enterprise context. Additionally, you have a proven track record of successfully leading high-calibre professionals.

As Head of the Development Management Office, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

• Lead the team of 14 development and project management professionals – Ensure performance excellence by coaching and continuously developing team members’ competencies
• Source and provide development resources (both internal and external) as a service for IM and Business developments
• Provide structure and guidance for various IT development, projects and continuous ones
• Own and develop the overall IT development mode within the Wärtsilä IM organisation
• Actively develop ways of working and boost adoption of agile practices, foster the agile community of practice across organizations
• Collaborate with Wärtsilä Businesses & Global Functions by facilitating a cross-Wärtsilä development community and representing IM in the Wärtsilä PM Forum
• Lead IM strategic actions linked to IT development
• Support management and prioritisation of IT development portfolio and governance practices

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

• M.Sc. in Economics & Business Administration or Information Technology
• 10+ years of IT project/program management experience in an enterprise-scale organisation operating in a global environment
• Proven track record of successfully leading people - excellent leadership, collaboration and teambuilding skills, also in a matrix organisation
• Solid skills in strategic planning and road-mapping, financials, and ability to fluently move from technical project matters to C-level big-picture story-telling
• Deep understanding of the development models and operating models in a complex enterprise context
• Good understanding of IT platforms, services and architecture
• Wide experience in agile ways of working and ability to act as an agile coach
• Professional change management, communication and presentation skills
• Passionate, proactive and goal-focused attitude to work
• Wärtsilä business knowledge is a plus
• Fluent written and spoken English

In this role, you will report to the Director, CIO Office in Wärtsilä central IM organisation, and join a team of high-calibre IT professionals working on IT strategy and development, operating models, finances, M&A, risks and compliance.
