We are looking for a Senior Specialist / Lead, Exploration & Scouting to the Next Business Lab. Wärtsilä’s Next Business Lab is a strategic innovation team within Energy on a mission to explore innovations to accelerate the energy transition together with our Business Units. The team scouts for ecosystem partners supports in incubation of ideas and fosters our innovation culture. You will report to the Director, Next Business Lab, Energy Business.

Position information:

This is a permanent position and the preferred location for the position is in Vaasa (Finland), but also Helsinki is a possible location.

Your tasks and projects will include:

• Cultivate and manage the community in the WISE ecosystem, creating a collaborative and supportive network with strong engagement
• Organising workshops and events for matchmaking and ecosystem-building
• Translating our business units’ innovation areas into scouting and exploration opportunities
• Being the linchpin between emerging technology vendors and the Energy Business units, shortlisting vendors that align with business unit strategies
• Performing initial assessments, and cultivating relationships that benefit us, the vendors, and the ecosystem
• Support the development of our acceleration initiatives
• Ensuring that the needed KPIs, analytics, and reporting are set up to track progress and results

Requirements:

• Several years of related experience in ecosystem building, R&D, business development, innovation or other relevant field
• A master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, business or other relevant field of study
• Excellent networking and relationship-building skills
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Knowledge of entrepreneurship concepts and community-building
• An analytical mindset and experience in turning data into analysis and actionable insights
• Experience working in cross-cultural teams is seen as a benefit
• Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good command of Finnish or Swedish will be needed in this role
