Business Planning & ESG Operations Officer

On behalf of our client, ELPEDISON, we are looking to recruit a Business Planning & ESG Operations Officer.
ELPEDISON, the 1st independent Energy Producer in Greece and one of the biggest, most reliable, and friendly Alternative Electricity and Natural Gas Suppliers, has emerged from the collaboration between two Energy Groups: - Hellenic Petroleum, one of the largest commercial and industrial energy Groups in Greece and South-Eastern Europe, and - Edison, the longest-running energy company in Europe and the largest private energy company in Italy. ELPEDISON, with its two privately-owned power plants in Thisvi (Voiotia) and Thessaloniki, with a total installed capacity of 820 MW, uses natural gas as fuel and ensures a clean and continuous electricity flow, based on a highly environmentally-friendly power generation process.
The position
The Business Planning & ESG Operations Officer will align the organization’s business goals with ESG objectives and support long-term strategic planning. The Section drives responsible practices across the business and acts as the PMO for company-wide ESG initiatives. This role tracks ESG performance, reporting on KPIs and metrics, while ensuring compliance with regulations and meeting business goals. (S)he also identifies ESG-related risks and opportunities that could affect operations or financial results, contributing to the company’s long-term strategy. A solid understanding of the electricity and / or natural gas sector is essential for this role.

The position

- Executes the company's ESG plan, aligning it with business objectives and long-term goals.
- Participates in strategic projects that analyze potential business cases.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams within the company to integrate ESG considerations into overall business planning.
- Acts as PMO in the implementation of the company’s sustainability initiatives.
- Establishes / Monitors / Updates key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track ESG performance. Ensures alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Reports on ESG performance. Prepares and submits relevant ESG reports & internal documentation.
- Identifies and assesses ESG-related risks and opportunities that may impact the company's performance.
- Stays up-to-date with the evolving ESG regulations and standards.
- Communicates with authorities, when required.
- Maintains comprehensive records of the department’s documentation and correspondence.
- Analyzes and proposes improvements and innovative practices in the section’s operation.
- Prepares presentations and corporate communication material.
- A BSc in Engineering, Economics or Environmental Science
- Relevant post-graduate degree in Sustainable Development, Sustainable Business, Energy / Environmental Management will be considered an asset
- At least 2 years relevant working experience in developing and implementing ESG strategies
- Experience within the energy section
- Familiarity with relevant ESG reporting frameworks and standards
- Relevant working experience in developing and implementing ESG strategies
- Understanding of environmental, social, and governance issues related to the energy industry
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Knowledge in Data analysis tools and database management
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess ESG factors related to the energy industry
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and collaborating with external partners
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
