Salary:
Master Pay Scale Point 7 ($22,145 per month) to Master Pay Scale Point 11 ($28,225 per month)

Entry Requirements:
Candidates should meet the following entry requirements –
(a)(i) have Level 2 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; or
(ii) have Level 2 (Note 3)/ Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent;
(b) have two years’ post-qualification working experience;
(c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; and
(d) have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) (Note 4).

Note:
Note 1: For civil service appointment purpose, “Attained with Distinction (I)” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.
Note 2: The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.
Note 3: For civil service appointment purpose, “Grade C” and “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 3” and “Level 2” respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
Note 4: All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the BLNST is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the BLNST will be considered for appointment.
For candidates who have not taken the relevant BLNST or have not attained a pass result in the relevant BLNST at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant BLNST during the recruitment process.

Duties:
An Amenities Assistant III is mainly deployed on supervising minor staff (Note 5) in recreational and amenities services including –
(a) arboriculture, plant production, botanical, zoological, aviary maintenance and landscape construction;
(b) maintenance of sports centres, parks, playgrounds, roadside amenity areas, stadia, sports grounds, beaches and swimming pools;
(c) life-saving and first aid services; and
(d) assisting in recreation and sports programme (Note 6).

[Note 5: Include the monitoring of the performance of contractors and their staff that provide recreational and amenities services.
Note 6: Apart from supervising minor staff, an Amenities Assistant III may be required to assist in recreation and sports programming duties.]

[Notes: Successful candidates should note the following –
(i) they are required to work 45 hours net per week (excluding meal breaks);
(ii) they are subject to posting and transfer, and may be required to work in remote areas (including outlying islands) at the discretion of the Head of Grade/ Department;
(iii) they may be required to perform shift duties and work irregular hours (including on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays). Actual working hours will be arranged by supervisors;
(iv) they may be required to drive motor scooters/ cycles/ cars on duty; and
(v) they may be required to wear uniform.]

Terms of Appointment:
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/ she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

General Notes:
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the selection interview.

(ii) Applicants should state clearly in their applications full record of academic attainments and employment as shortlisting criteria may be applied for selecting qualified candidates to attend the selection interview.]
(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/ she will be invited to attend the selection interview/ written examination without being subject to further shortlisting. (i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/ Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required local entry qualifications.

Candidates who are selected for selection interview will normally receive an invitation (by email or by post) in about 12 to 16 weeks from the closing date for applications. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances or when a large number of applications are received. Those who are not invited for selection interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

Application forms [G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023)] are obtainable from any Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau’s website (https://www.csb.gov.hk/english/recruit/application/331.html).

[Note: The new version of application form for Government jobs G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023) has been in use with effect from 26 July 2023. Candidates who apply for Government jobs advertised on or after 26 July 2023 should use the new G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023). If candidates submit the old version form (G.F. 340 (Rev. 3/2013)), they will be required to fill in the new G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023) afresh and submit it within seven days upon request. If candidates fail to submit the new G.F. 340 (Rev. 7/2023) within the stipulated deadline, their applications will not be processed further.]

Apart from the application form, applicants must also complete the prescribed Supplementary Information Sheet (SIS) (either the Chinese or English version) so that the selection board can have a better understanding of the applicants’ personal background and/or relevant experiences. The SIS can be downloaded from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s website (https://www.lcsd.gov.hk/appoint/forms/AAIII_Supplementary_Information_Sheet_ENG.pdf). In case an applicant fails to submit the SIS (or fails to submit it in the prescribed format), his/ her application will be regarded as incomplete and will NOT be considered.

Application forms together with the completed SISs submitted in person or by post should reach the Appointments and Establishment Unit, Support Section, Leisure Services Branch, 8/F, Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters, 1-3 Pai Tau Street, Sha Tin, New Territories, Hong Kong not later than 12 September 2024. Applicants may also apply online through the Civil Service Bureau’s website (https://www.csb.gov.hk) on or before the application deadline and then submit the completed SIS separately in person or by post. The SISs should reach the Appointments and Establishment Unit, at the aforesaid address within one week after the application deadline (i.e. on or before 19 September 2024).

For the application forms and/ or SISs to be submitted in person or by post, please specify clearly “Application for the post of Amenities Assistant III” on the envelope. The postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application and/ or submission of the SIS. To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage has been affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Applicants will bear any consequences arising from paying insufficient postage. Applications which are incomplete, late, submitted by fax or email, not duly signed by the applicants, or not made in the prescribed form will not be considered.

For qualifications awarded by local institutions/ Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, copies of the relevant transcripts/ diplomas/ certificates or other qualification documents are not required to be submitted at this stage of application. As for qualifications obtained from institutions outside Hong Kong, copies of the relevant transcripts/ diplomas/ certificates or other qualification documents should be submitted together with the completed application forms on or before the application deadline. For applicants who apply online, they should submit copies of the required supporting documents by post to the contact address below on or before 19 September 2024. Name and online application number should be quoted on the envelope and copies of the supporting documents.

Candidates who are invited for selection interview will be required to produce the original copies of the official transcripts/ diplomas/ certificates or other qualification documents in support of the academic qualifications and supporting documents for working experience for verification and photocopies for record purpose. The applications will not be considered if any candidates fail to produce the original copies of the required documents for verification. All qualifications/ working experience of the candidates should be obtained on or before the close of application. Qualifications/ working experience obtained after the close of application will not be considered.
