The Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited (“HKSI”) is the Government’s delivery agent to provide the high performance training system for eligible sports. The HKSI’s mission is to provide an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena benchmarked at Major Games results. We are now inviting suitable candidates for the following vacancy:

The Job

Reporting to the Finance Manager (“FNM”), the Assistant Finance Manager will assist the FNM for the effective management of financial activities of the company to ensure proper and effective financial controls are in place to meet the financial needs and control of the company. Duties include:

• To supervise, guide and monitor a team of Finance Staff in daily operations;
• To advise FNM any updates/ revision of the financial policies and procedures to assist the FNM in the streamline of accounting procedures, formulation of accounting policy and other financial control procedures, and their executions;
• To compile appropriate financial and management information including the monthly management reports, annual draft estimates, annual budget and the yearly audit activities for FNM review;
• To perform the monthly financial statements analysis and review the annual accounts to ensure that key accounts are reconciled;
• To assist FNM in overseeing the month/year-end closing activities including books of the HKSIL (including other designated projects) and the Trust Fund and to effectively liaise with the external auditors for annual statutory audits;
• To assist FNM in the preparation of committee papers, draft estimates and other ad hoc assignments;
• To coordinate with staff of respective departments for all accounting and financial matters;
• To coordinate with IT department and respective department in system upgrades or new system testing, validation and implementations to ensure internal control and corporate governance principles are consistently applied
• To assist other department in developing, modifying and tuning up the policy and internal control that goes in line with the change; and
• To perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor.

The Requirements

• A recognised degree in finance or accounting or related disciplines and a certified public accountant;
• A minimum of 6 years’ relevant accounting experience of which 2 years must be at supervisory level preferably gained from a sizable organisation;
• Good command in both spoken and written English and Chinese;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Versatile in database management is an advantage;
• Experience in computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel VBA and computerised accounting system is a must; and
• Knowledge in Sun Account System and Infor Q&A is an advantage.
