(a) a first or second class honours bachelor’s degree, from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent;
(b) proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, Level 2 or above in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note 1] ;
(c) good interpersonal and presentation skills;
(d) strong interest in and/or track record of socio-economic research;
(e) strong interest in public affairs and policy; and
(f) good knowledge in computer applications and proficiency in Putonghua will be an advantage.

(2) Candidates expecting to obtain the required academic qualifications within the current academic year (i.e. 2024/25) may apply. Consideration for appointment will be subject to their successfully obtaining the required academic qualifications.

(d) To provide secretariat support for various committees, working groups and panels.

(f) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/she will be invited to attend the selection interview/written examination without being subject to further shortlisting criteria. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the above contact address.
(h) For general awareness, a locally-accredited Hong Kong bachelor’s degree is at Level 5 under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF). While there are other qualifications under HKQF Level 5, for the purpose of this recruitment exercise, only bachelor’s degree is acceptable. To ensure timely submission, applicants are strongly advised to complete their on-line applications as early as possible in order to avoid any last-minute rush of applications, which may overload the system.
(2) Application Letter
Applicants must submit by email an application letter in Chinese (not less than 1000 words) or English (not less than 700 words), setting out the reasons for applying for the position and highlighting any special qualities and experiences that are considered relevant to the job. The application letter must be sent by email (personnel@cepu.gov.hk) with the position applied for and the online application number quoted in the email subject.
(3) Full Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Applicants must also submit by email their CV in Chinese or English. The CV must be sent by email (personnel@cepu.gov.hk) with the position applied for and the online application number quoted in the email subject.
Applications without any of the above would be regarded as incomplete applications. Late or incomplete applications or documents submitted by fax or by post will NOT be accepted.
Candidates who are not invited for written test/interview within eight weeks from the closing date may assume that their applications are unsuccessful. The Chief Executive’s Policy Unit is not obliged to inform individual applicant of unsuccessful applications.
