Design Engineer – Communications

Design Engineer – Communications (Ref: 240001EF)
Responsibilities
  • Undertake design tasks assigned on a wide range of Communications Systems, Radio System, Radio Distribution Network, Public Address System, Passenger Service Management System, CCTV and Video Analytic System, Telephone System and different innovation projects which are related to asset renewal, modification and enhancement in various Railway lines, in particular for the High-Speed Rail.
  • Prepare contracts and assist in tendering for the works, provide comments and assessment on the project design submissions, attend site surveys, test and commissioning and co-ordinate interfaces with other sections / departments
  • Take lead to coordinate and negotiate the variety of internal/external including Mainland system stakeholders to agree the system design requirement of High-Speed Rail.
  • Conduct technical investigation in relation to incidents and provide technical advice to maintainers
  • Take up offshore assignment from time to time to support the growth business of the Corporation as required

Requirements
  • Higher Diploma/Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Communications Engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in Communication systems, of which 2 years should be in design capacity
  • Knowledge of a wide range of communications systems commonly used in railways and in-depth understanding of electronics & software control systems is preferred
  • Self-motivated and can work independently, with good communication, analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work in non-traffic hours during the site survey and test & commissioning stage of engineering works assigned
Remarks
  • Candidate with less experience will be considered for the position of Support Engineer – Communications
