Duties

The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator in a GRF-funded project concerned with legal discourse. The appointee will be required to:

Work on a specialised corpus of judicial opinions;

Renew literature;

Conduct preliminary analysis;

Test assigned analytical frameworks for explanatory value;

Prepare project reports;

Assist in the running of three dissemination seminars; and

Perform any other duties as assigned

Requirements

The appointee should have a Master’s degree or above in Linguistics or a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with:

Ability to work with complex written data;

Knowledge of corpus methods and discourse analysis;

Excellent command of spoken and written English;

Solutions-oriented disposition; and

Positive attitude.

On-the-job training in relation to the legal aspects of the project will be provided. Applications for part-time position will also be considered.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. For full-time appointment, fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
