The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking a high-caliber, seasoned professional to serve as the Senior Manager (Construction) and lead quality assurance efforts within the University’s capital works projects. This key role will be instrumental in upholding quality standards and ensuring the successful execution of construction projects on the university campus.
Reporting to the Director of Campus Development, the appointee has to demonstrate experience in the successful delivery of new buildings and renovation works within Hong Kong, with an understanding of Hong Kong’s relevant statutory processes.
Major duties include:
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.

Major duties include:
- Lead a QA team to ensure site supervision work focused on creating a safe, high-quality, and eco-friendly learning and working environment, and work closely with the Project Management team to align on project goals and execution strategies.

Oversee and direct in-house QA/QC personnel, consultants, Resident Site Staff and contractors to ensure efficient and successful project execution, including:
- Administering contracts and managing sites to ensure compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and project timelines.
- Reviewing and assessing tender documentation, plans, reports, and other project materials related to quality assurance.
- Conducting regular site inspections, documenting on-site activities, tracking construction progress, and verifying construction work quality against contract requirements, design specifications, and approved documents.
- Assess non-conformities against specifications and blueprints, generate reports and notifications regarding defects and deviations, and supervise thorough rectification.
- Provide recommendations on best practices in construction and propose alternative solutions whenever necessary.
- Facilitate coordination and participate in meetings with government bodies, consulting teams, contractors, stakeholders, and internal departments.
- Ensure all drawing records and O&M manuals accurately reflect the as-built facility.
