Project Title:
Innovating with a translanguaging/trans-semiotizing informed LAC model to improve ESL junior
secondary students’ academic English literacy


[Appointment Period: 12 months]


The appointee will assist in a research project funded by the SCOLAR. S/he will work closely with the school
teachers and students and provide support in pedagogical innovation. The main duties will include recruiting
participants, conducting systematic literature review, assisting with developing research instruments, collecting
and analysing data, preparing research reports and dissemination material, as well as maintaining effective
communication with multiple stakeholders. The appointment will be for a period of 12 months, with the
possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement.

Applicants should have a Master’s degree in English, English Language Education or related disciplines, plus
one year’s post-Master’s degree full-time working experience, or a doctorate in the abovementioned disciplines.
S/he should possess an excellent command of spoken and written English, a commitment to research, and the
ability to write up research work for publications. Those with experience in discourse analysis and teaching
materials design will be preferred. A recognised teaching qualification is an advantage. The appointee is
expected to assume duty as soon as possible.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental
