EQ Market Risk Analyst

You will:

Assess market risks, concentrations and top risks on assigned desk of coverage
Independently challenge traders, trading management and strategists. Appropriately escalate risks identified to senior risk managers
Develop risk monitoring tools and get involved in system improvement working closely with traders, quantitative analysts, IT and other groups within the Firm
Perform daily checks on risk data quality and its impact on capital measures, as well as investigate to explain daily changes.
Analyse weekly Stress P&L and explain relevant changes as well as contribute to implementation of new scenarios
Continuously review limit and reporting framework to ensure appropriateness in light of new trades, business strategy, new product risk factors and market conditions
Work closely with UK and Global Regulators (monthly briefings, co-ordination and synthesis of major stress-testing exercises), participate in successful approval of ongoing model waivers, compute regulatory capital buffers etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have:

Degree in financial, economic or mathematical subject
Basic knowledge of equity derivatives pricing (futures, options)
Basic coding skills (Python, SQL, VBA preferred) aimed at creating automated tools to check relevant risks and market moves
Genuine interest in financial markets, with proactive and independent mindset in analysing and escalating relevant events
Experience in risk management and / or quantitative field in a sell-side institution preferred
Good communication skills for written, graphical and verbal presentation
Attention to detail and prioritization skills will also be key in balancing daily deadlines with timely implementation of strategic projects

Team Profile:
The Market Risk Department is responsible for identifying, analysing, measuring, controlling, and reporting market risk exposures generated by both trading and banking activities. The Department consists of business-facing market risk managers and a Portfolio Analysis & Stress Testing team.
