About Our Research
RCSI recognises that excellence in research is critical to the quality of its educational activities, its credibility, and, overall, to its mission to enhance human health. RCSI’s research strategy aims to build upon its strength in translational biomedical and clinical research to deliver transformational, high impact changes in health care. Targeting both Irish national and EU funding, along with increased collaboration with industry, is a major part of the RCSI research strategy. Forging increased collaboration between RCSI PIs and industry is of critical importance to achieving success in this area. RCSI is also committed to provide its researchers with the supports and developmental opportunities to enable them to continuously grow and support their overall career development.
Objectives of this post
The Cameron Postdoctoral Fellows will work directly with faculty members on designated research projects in the field of Population Health, generating research funding, and translating outputs for academic publication, influencing policy and practice. The role also includes supporting the Central to the Cameron Fellows role is the development and delivery of innovative postgraduate and professional education as part of RCSI’s new education programme in population health leadership.
Specifically, the duties of the post are:
Contribute to the development and delivery of an innovative education programme in population health leadership and science, contribute to the School’s research agenda and collaboration profile through:
  • Supporting curriculum design and content development of new teaching programmes, teaching modalities and modes of assessment.
  • Delivery of engaging lectures and other teaching modalities in areas appropriate to the needs of the School of Population Health Faculty and Cameron Programme Team.
  • Supporting module assessment as required.
  • Liaise and collaborate with and provide support to colleagues in the RCSI Schools as required.
  • Contribute to quality assurance/quality improvement and accreditation of existing modules.
  • Perform such other related duties as may be required.
Qualifications – (Essential):
  • A Ph D or equivalent in an area relevant to population health or evidence-based health.
Knowledge & Experience – (Essential):
  • Some experience of teaching facilitation, assessment and evaluation.
  • Ability to engage postgraduate students through a range of teaching modes including through online delivery formats.
  • Evidence of a developing research profile.
  • Strong commitment to own personal and professional development.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships – actively collaborating with colleagues.
Knowledge & Experience – (Desirable):
  • Experience of university teaching at undergraduate and or/ postgraduate level.
