We are looking to employ a cook for 4½ hours a day, 5 days a week in Galway Abbey.
The Role
You will be required to plan, prepare and cook mid-day dinner for approximately 6 people, do some baking such as fresh breads, scones etc and leave something ready for the evening.
Planning will be done in conjunction with the Community, including considerations from the Health Care Co-ordinator and following on from this you will need to prepare the shopping list to facilitate this. In conjunction with this, the monitoring of portions of meals provided to ensure limited waste and the economic use of all foods is imperative.
You will be required to wash-up after meals and re-set the tables, in a presentable way for the next meal. Appropriate levels of hygiene and health and safety standards are required in both the kitchen and the dining areas.
As these lists are not exhaustive a certain degree of flexibility will be required.
The Individual
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, with a passion for food.
You will be required to have at least 2 years previous relevant cooking experience. A sound working knowledge of HACCP is essential. Demonstrable experience dealing with various dietary requirements is a key requirement. Formal qualification such as FETAC Level 5 or City and Guilds is desirable.
You will be working closely with the Guardian. An open-minded approach and readiness to tackle any challenge, no matter how big or small, is important. Confidentiality Is key.
As this is a small organisation, you will need to be exceptionally organised, extremely proactive and not afraid to use your initiative!
Garda Vetting will be required and the successful candidate must have a valid work permit in order to take up the post.
