Director-Currency, Workplace & Regulatory Services

We currently have a vacancy for a Director – Currency, Workplace & Regulatory Services on a contract of indefinite duration. This role is aligned with the Bank Director grade and the Bank Director salary scale, between €208,400 and €223,272 applies. Please click here for further information on our salary scales.

The Director of Currency, Workplace, and Regulatory Services is a pivotal senior leader within the Central Bank, playing a crucial role in the institution's collective leadership. Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, this position is one of four key roles essential to advancing our commitment to Operational Excellence. In this role, you will lead a Directorate of 200+ people across multiple site locations.

You will have a unique opportunity to transform our back-office processes by leveraging process excellence and technology, enabling us to scale effectively to meet the growing demands of both internal and external stakeholders. Your success in this position hinges on your ability to become a trusted advisor within the stakeholder community, fostering strong relationships and delivering impactful solutions.

Responsibilities:
As a senior leader in the Central Bank you will:
  • Exemplify the Bank’s Culture and Values.
  • Actively participate in the development, execution, and monitoring of the Bank’s strategy.
  • Engage in Leadership Committees as well as various internal and external committees and bodies.
  • Lead and coach direct reports to ensure a high-performing, well-motivated, and developed team that delivers the required outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and acting on opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of your Directorate and the overall Bank, including staff development.
Key Deliverables
  • Overseeing the provision of essential regulatory services as part of the Bank's broader regulatory mandate, while also playing a key role in managing information and data through the Regulatory and Business Services Division.
  • Managing key registrar services for the Bank and the nation, including the Beneficial Owners Register.
  • Governing the integrity and accuracy of our database information and leveraging this to generate critical decision-making insights.
  • Ensuring the delivery of the Bank's currency services from the Currency Centre in Sandyford, maintaining an adequate supply of high-quality banknotes and coins for societal needs through the Currency Management Division.
  • Providing a fulfilling, safe, and secure working environment via the Workplace Services and Facilities Management Division and the Security Division.
  • Playing a crucial role in steering the Cash Centre Strategy, including the development and delivery of a new Cash Centre as a critical piece of State infrastructure.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the cash cycle, including the production of Euro coins and notes and ensure the provision and supply of hard currency in the economy.
  • Contribute to the European Central Bank’s (ECB) work on banknote-policy-related matters and assist the ECB in the strategic planning of euro banknote security, production, and issuance.
  • Oversee the provision of a fulfilling, safe, and secure working environment through the Workplace Services and Facilities Management Division and the Security Division.
  • Manage the Directorate’s operating budget and capital expenditures, ensuring that all necessary accounting and operational controls are in place to properly account for all expenditures while optimizing value for money.
Requirements:
  • 10 years + Leadership experience, this is a significant leadership role, requiring the role holder to possess extensive experience in leading and inspiring teams of purpose led professionals within a large and complex organisation.
  • Collaborative leadership with a proven ability to work effectively across boundaries.
  • Strong understanding of organisational culture, change management, project management, and transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying risk management and best practice corporate governance standards, ensuring audit readiness across their remit.
  • Strong financial and cost management.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrable operations leadership experience, including expertise in service delivery, process management, and the use of metrics and scorecards.
  • Ability to evaluate and adapt services in response to relevant regulatory and legal frameworks.
  • Capability to assess and comprehend new and diverse business models.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, judgment, decision-making, and organisational skills.
  • Adept at managing ambiguity and providing clear guidance in times of uncertainty.
  • An ability to communicate and influence clearly and with impact both within and outside the organisation, with a demonstrated capacity to operate at board level.
  • Outstanding stakeholder and matrix management abilities.
  • Proven track record of leading and coaching people leaders and teams to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Excellent ability to work independently and deliver results swiftly.
