Purpose of the position
Guest Services Porters work across all departments throughout the hotel to assist with the smooth running of the day-to-day operations. The Guest Services Porter will work closely with the management team to ensure that we exceed our guest expectations every time.
The ideal candidate will have a warm, friendly and engaging personality and take pride in providing excellent guest care at all times.
Key delivery areas:
- To assist with guest requests and provide excellent guest care at all times
- To assist with room service and the transportation of guest luggage
- To perform security checks at regular intervals.
- To assist with Conferences and Functions taking place at the Hotel on a daily basis
- To be familiar with hotel layout, the hotel area and locality.
- To carry out the Hotels customer relations’ policy, and to communicate Hotel services to guests.
- Complete manual handling duties within the hotel such as furniture removal / deliveries of boxes etc.
- Replenish stores and service rooms as required
- Prepare general areas to expected standards.
- Highlight any items or areas that need maintenance.
- Maintaining all areas of hotel, as needed, including equipment and stores are in a clean, hygienic and tidy condition.
- Ensuring that all cleaning equipment and materials are maintained in a safe, clean and efficient condition and reporting to the Supervisor where any item of such equipment requires repair or replacement.
- Ensuring that all chemicals used is replenished as required and that the Supervisor is made aware of the need to order chemical stocks to ensure the continuity of service
- To understand responsibilities in relation to Fire Procedures, Health and Safety, Infection Control and Emergency Aid.
- To undertake such other duties as may be determined from time to time within the general scope of the post and to be aware that social activities connected with the home may require voluntary work attendance outside normal working hours
- Maintain a safe and hygienic working environment in all back of house areas and report any lost property and maintenance issues to your manager / supervisor
- To ensure that all equipment is stored correctly and allocated to correct area.
- Small equipment cleaning duties as per cleaning schedules in order that the front of house team have resources required for service.
- Cleaning of all large equipment in line with standard operating procedures and schedules
- Ensure consistency and speed of service.
- To observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified are adhered to.
- To carry out ad hoc cleaning duties as necessary or as requested by the Management team
- Cleaning knowledge and willingness to learn
- Great local knowledge of Killarney / Ireland
- At least 1 year experience in a similar role at 4* or 5* level is preferable
- Thorough Understanding of the importance of Customer Experience and uncompromising standards of excellence
- High Attention to Detail
- Willingness to work in various functions across departments
- Great communication skills – ability to clearly communicate with guests and management and staff across a variety of nationalities and experience levels
- Fluent English (written and verbal)
- Energetic, Friendly, Approachable, Professional, Courteous and Well Groomed
- Have the ability to maintain accuracy and speed whilst working under pressure
- Focused on providing a consistently high standard of service and hygiene
- Be standards driven, a team player, flexible
- Possess the ability to work under pressure
- Have excellent organisational skills
