Job Title: Laundry Assistant
Location: Nazareth House, Malahide Rd, Grace Park, Dublin, D03 KW08
Reporting to: Director of Nursing
Purpose of Job: To ensure that all personal clothing belonging to residents and other washable items of clothing are be laundered to the highest standards.
Main Responsibilities:
· Sort articles of clothing into appropriate loads and wash at the required temperature
· Wash dark and light colours separately
· Soak any clothing with stains before washing
· Observe guidelines and procedures for washing of infected clothing, i.e. M.R.S.A. or C. Dif. (Infections) and use appropriate bags for same
· Report any money, rosary beads, etc. found in pockets, to Units
· Should any item of clothing be destroyed (e.g. shrunk woolens) or damaged, contact Nurse in charge of Unit and explain the incident
· Fold clothing with person’s name visible. Similarly, with sheets, towels, face cloths etc.
· Place Unit clothing in colour-coded bags
· Ensure that all linen is thoroughly dried, ironed and neatly folded before returning to Units.
Cleaning:
· De-fluff dryers after use
· Sweep and wash floor when required
· Disinfect machines and sinks
· Replace supplies as required
Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:

• Relevant Housekeeping & Laundry experience;
• Supervisor experience is desirable;
• Strong understanding of infection control;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with colleagues and residents;
• Computer literate and familiar with duty rostering;
• Good level of written and spoken English.
