Job Summary:As a Specialised Sourdough Baker at O'Hara's of Foxford, you will be responsible for crafting our signature sourdough loaves, from preparing the starter to shaping, fermenting, and baking. This role requires a deep understanding of sourdough fermentation techniques and the skill to produce consistent, high-quality bread. You will work closely with our production team to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and taste.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain sourdough starters, ensuring their health and consistency.
Mix, shape, and bake sourdough loaves according to our established recipes and standards.
Monitor fermentation times and temperatures to ensure optimal dough development.
Work with a variety of flours and ingredients to create exceptional sourdough products.
Ensure that each batch is produced with precision and attention to detail, maintaining consistent quality and texture.
Follow food safety and hygiene standards in the bakery, ensuring cleanliness and proper handling of all ingredients and equipment.
Collaborate with the bakery team to meet production targets and ensure timely delivery of orders.
Experiment with and develop new sourdough variations and recipes, as needed, to expand the product range.

Key Requirements:

Experience: Proven experience as a sourdough or artisan bread baker, with a strong understanding of sourdough techniques, including fermentation and shaping.
Attention to Detail: Ability to produce consistent, high-quality loaves with attention to texture, crust, and flavour.
Physical Stamina: The role involves early morning hours and the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy trays, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Teamwork: Strong collaboration skills to work efficiently with the bakery team and meet production goals.
Food Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety regulations and practices, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) protocols.
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings and weekends, to meet the demands of bakery production.

Desirable Skills:

Formal culinary or baking qualifications (preferred but not essential).
Experience working in a high-volume bakery environment.
Creative flair in developing new sourdough varieties or related products.

Working Hours:This is a full-time position, and flexibility will be required for early morning starts and weekend shifts to ensure the freshest products are delivered to our customers.
