Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and visionary Data Strategy Lead for Integrated Business Planning within our Data & Analytics team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with our business
goals, while also providing architectural guidance and technical enablement for our integrated business planning initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Data Strategy Development:
- Vision and Roadmap: Develop a clear vision and strategic roadmap for data that aligns to the needs of IBP
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to understand their data needs and
priorities. Ensure the data strategy addresses these needs effectively.
- Data Ecosystem: Design and implement a robust data ecosystem that integrates various data sources, including internal
systems and external data providers, to ensure comprehensive and accurate data availability.
- Data Quality and Governance: Implement data governance frameworks and best practices to ensure data accuracy,
consistency, and security. Adopt and augment policies and procedures for data management, stewardship, and compliance.
- Technology and Tools: Evaluate and select appropriate data technologies, tools, and platforms to support the data
strategy. Stay updated with emerging trends and innovations in data science and analytics.
- Data Literacy: Promote a culture of data literacy and data-driven decision-making across the organization. Provide training
and resources to empower employees to leverage data effectively.
- Innovation and Improvement: Continuously explore new opportunities to leverage data for business innovation and
process improvements. Drive initiatives that enhance data capabilities and provide a competitive edge.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Business Planning, Finance, and operations, to understand
their data needs and ensure alignment with the data strategy. Partner with the Finance & Planning Analytics Lead and
Enterprise Programs Delivery Lead to align quarterly goals for the IBP Data team.
- Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and
innovation.
- Performance Measurement: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the data
strategy and make data-driven adjustments as needed.
- Provide data architectural leadership and direction for integrated business planning systems within the Data & Analytics
domain.
- Technical Enablement: Design and implement scalable and robust data architectures that support integrated business planning
processes.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- 10+ years’ experience data management, analytics, or related roles with several years’ experience in leadership roles.
- Knowledge of modern enterprise integration patterns including event streaming, APIs, and ETL/ELT
- Deep Retail Industry knowledge or previous experience working in the business. Experience in enterprise planning
preferred.
- Experience with planning and financial systems
- Technical expertise in big data, data warehousing, analytics, and data science related technologies including data lakes
and machine learning
- Advanced level experience in working with data science teams in refining and optimizing data science and machine
learning models and algorithms.
- Strong experience in working with data governance, data quality, and data security teams and specifically and privacy and
security officers in moving data pipelines into production with appropriate data quality, governance and security
standards and certification.
- Experienced in agile methodologies and capable of applying Dev Ops and increasingly Data Ops principles to data pipelines
to improve the communication, integration, reuse and automation of data flows between data managers and consumers
across an organization
- Seasoned Leader with a proven track record in supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic business
environment.
- Highly creative and collaborative. An ideal candidate would be expected to collaborate with both the business and IT
teams to define the business problem, refine the requirements, and design and develop data deliverables accordingly.
The successful candidate will also be required to have regular discussions with data consumers on optimally refining the
data pipelines developed in nonproduction environments and deploying them in production.
- Ability to interface with, and gain the respect of, stakeholders at all levels and roles within the company.
- Has good judgment, a sense of urgency and has demonstrated commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory
compliance, customer service and business integrity.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field is required.
