About the Department

The Credit and Risk Management function is comprised of three teams: Risk Management, Credit and Special Asset Management. We manage the risks arising from the Group’s business activities within the risk appetite established by the Board. This involves identifying and evaluating the risks, developing effective risk governance and strategies as well as providing independent assessment of the overall risk profile.

Job Responsibilities

This position resides within Country Retail Credit and reports to the Head of PFS Credit-Secured. As part of the team, the successful candidate will:

• Prioritize and process Mortgage and Secured Loan credit applications, undertake credit reviews for Retail customers and provide credit decision/ approval within authorized Credit Authority Limit.
• Possess adequate business and Industry knowledge on Mortgage and Real Estate business and work closely with Business Units and other functional departments in alignment with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
• Ensure implementation of credit application processes in accordance with Bank established Product Policies and Process Standards, Product Programs in compliance with regulatory requirements for new and existing portfolio.
• Drive and enhance efficiency of credit approval processes and effectiveness of credit risk management with strong focus on turnaround time aimed at improving client experience.
• Supervise/Work closely with Credit Underwriters providing guidance and advice on risk acceptance/underwriting criteria, as well ensure timely identification of issues/ early warning signs and ensure appropriate credit risk mitigating actions.
• Support the Unit Head and take lead in Capacity and Expense Planning, Efficiency and Productivity Initiatives, Structured reviews and other adhoc tasks/projects as may be required from time to time.
• Prepare and Review various monthly Operational Excellence Key Performance Indicator reports for periodical management updates to in Country and Regional stakeholders.
• Review Risk Management Reporting including Key Operational Risk Indicators, Regulatory reporting and Key Risk & Control Self-Assessment.
• Pursue self-developmental plan and encourage staff through effective engagement with the objective of ensuring high level of competency and behaviour in embracing UOB values.

Job Requirements

• Risk cultured, more than 10 years’ experience in Retail Mortgage Credit or relevant Mortgage business experience with good credit fundamentals.
• Strong business acumen with deep knowledge of Malaysia Property market.
• Thorough understanding of credit processes and policies with good analytical and technical skills to processes and analyze data points.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and dealing effectively with demanding business partners as well as objection handling.
• Ability to interact successfully with business partners, operations, technology and finance teams
• Self-motivated individual with an agile mindset, is a team player and work effectively in a cross-functional organization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a Finance/Business/Mathematics or equivalent. Master’s degree is and added advantage.
