Bus driver Public Transport
Job description
You will join Toonen Reizen on a one-year contract, and for the first few months, you will primarily be assigned to public transport routes in Mittelrhein around the Eifel and Mosel (Germany). It involves operating fixed public transport routes, with shifts scheduled during the day, night, and weekends, using various buses, including articulated buses. Proficiency in English is sufficient; there is no requirement to speak German. This assignment is expected to last for at least the first few months, depending on the extension of the contract with the German publicservice.
You will be working on the public transport assignment in Germany with at least three other bus drivers from Toonen. Your accommodation in Germany will be provided. Occasionally, you may need to return to the headquarters in the Netherlands to perform regular routes for Toonen Reizen. You read more about the regular routes below.
Once the assignment in Germany is completed, you will fully return to the Netherlands to resume regular routes. At that point, you will be responsible for your own accommodation, though we will certainly assist you with this.
Being a bus driver at Toonen
The Toonen Reizen coaches have been well-known on the national and international road network for almost 100 years. The fleet now includes 25 luxury coaches in various sizes. They are multifunctional for company and crew transportation, day trips, international shuttles, school trips, vacation trips and national and international events. The fleet also includes buses for sports clubs and buses for partner Flixbus. Toonen Reizen works for a wide variety of target groups, from business to individuals, and from young people to the elderly. In recent years, the company has grown without losing its family-like work environment.
We work with a team of 63 drivers who make sure customers arrive to their destinations pleasantly and safely. That's quite a responsibility. You have a lot of variety in your daily work. For example, one day you might be on the road with the Union for the Elderly to Madurodam and the next day you might be starting the international line from Paris to Malmö. It could also be local school transport or a multi-day trip in Europe. Our planning takes personal preferences into account whenever possible.
Before depature, you check the vehicle and prepare for the route(s). You see it as your mission to bring the customers from A to B safely and provide service where necessary. You are also required to drive according to the legal rest- and driving hours.
Our offer
· You will be considered for a one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent contract. We would like to hear your availability.

· An independent and responsible position in a leading organization within the industry;
· For salary, the collective bargaining agreement for Private Bus Transportation will be adhered to. This means that your basic CLA salary is between € 2,787.28 and € 3,356.53 per month (based on a full-time contract, before taxes and mandatory insurance). Depending on your experience and age;
· Toonen Reizen deviates positively from the collective bargaining agreement for Private Bus Transportation since 2023. 100% of hours (including breaks) are paid instead of the 5/6 arrangement, so a 6/6 arrangement is applied;
· More than CLA, a commuting mileage allowance is provided as from 10 km till the maximum of €20 per day;
· You are also eligible for the irregularity, night and weekend bonuses;
· We will meet with you yearly to understand how satisfied you are in your job and which skill you would like to develop.
· We arrange refresher training for the Code 95.
What do you bring?
You have a European driver's license D and code 95. Have you had these in the past, but are both documents expired? Then we would like to think along with you.
You should be able to submit a Certificate of Conduct and have a good proficiency of the English language. Other languages as Dutch and German are a bonus. You are flexible and enjoy working different hours.
