Chapter Lead Data Lake

ING Tech Netherlands is building a state-of-the-art Data Lake. An ambitious project where we use automation, ETL patterns, modelling methods and high-speed databases. All this is possible due to our platform family where engineers are working energetic on getting the most out of our systems, software, and tools. From maintaining multiple Operating Systems, Software suites and Databases. Building pipelines, providing monitoring and dashboards. Giving support to over 20 ETL teams while keeping our platform safe and secure.

We are looking for a strong enthusiastic Chapter Lead who has the ability to turn the strategy in to actionable results and can bring out the best in people. You will be the game-changer who takes our tribe to thes next level.
As Chapter Lead you will be responsible for the Platform engineers in guiding, advising, and motivating them. On top of that, you will play a key role in the development of the team and their skillset in this transition to the cloud.

The team

The platform family and his members are divided in two teams. The teams maintain our Oracle EXAdata database and our ETL software suite (IBM Info Sphere) and underlying Linux and Windows systems. Together they are responsible for operation activities (patching, security) as well as additional services like monitoring, scheduling, and maintaining multiple CI/CD pipelines. Part of the team is focused on support on platform related incidents coming from our ETL teams as well as Lifecycle management. The other part is focused on change, constantly improving our environment, and keeping security and user access management on an excellent level.

You will also be part of LT of the Tech Data Management team, where we work closely on Tribe (department) related IT topics together with the IT area lead. The topics you will work on have a high impact improving not only the platform family, but the Tribe overall. Helping each other out, keeping the helicopter view and thinking out of the box in combination with decision making is important on daily basis.

Roles and responsibilities

Taking security in high regard when overseeing the platform
Understanding Data Warehousing on a platform level
Creating and safeguarding the professional culture and orange behaviour
Responsible for +-10 engineers, both internally and externally, which you inspire and encourage to develop themselves individually and as a high performing team.
Being the bridge between your team, the Product Lead, IT Area Lead, and other stakeholders.
Problem solving mentality and helping with designing solutions

3+ years of experience in a leader/manager role with HR responsibilities
5+ years of experience with leading change programmes in complex organisations
Take responsibility, mentor, encourage and provide growth path to your chapter members
Experienced with stakeholder management and resourses planning, ability to speak up and challenge decisions
Continuous improvement mindset
Experience with Modern Data Architectures from a platform/ Cloud data landscape/CI/CD (Azure preferred)/ Security by design mentality/Experience in Agile / Scrum or Kanban
