We are now looking for a
Commercial Diver
to join our team.
The position is permanent and full-time, connected to our office in Terneuzen, Netherlands. Candidates should reside within a daily commuting distance from our office and be European citizens or hold a permanent residency visa.
What will you be doing
In this position, you will have the chance to make your mark on the shipping industry. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing vessels and offshore structures locally and globally, ranging from standard upkeep tasks to high-end repair projects.
Your main duty will be to perform diving tasks in line with your capabilities. You will work under the guidance of experienced diving supervisors and alongside a skilled team of co-workers who are passionate about their work. In addition to diving, you may also be involved in on-site support activities, such as working on deck, in engine rooms, or helping with preparation, mobilization, demobilization, and maintenance within our workshops
The ideal candidate should have a genuine passion for the shipping industry and technical work. You must have a proactive problem-solving mindset, strong work ethic, punctuality, and a continuous learning willingness to succeed in this role.

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
- You will be primarily tasked with performing basic dive services and supporting activities as part of a larger Wartsila team, contributing to basic and advanced dive service operations.
You'll often participate in various logistical aspects of diving operations, guided by our workshop teams. This involves assisting in the preparation, organization, and maintenance of diving equipment.
What do we expect from you?
- Hold a valid commercial diving certificate, preferably under the Dutch Certification scheme.
- Be medically qualified for commercial diving.
- Have a background or experience in any mechanical field or welding. This would be considered a plus.
- Be familiar with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel. This is necessary for performing administrative tasks.
- Have good team and communication skills.
- Be fluent in English, both verbal and written. Fluency in Dutch is a plus.
- Have the ability to work under pressure and be flexible when it comes to last-minute changes.
- Be open to working very frequently overtime, on weekends, and public holidays.
