Role: Freight Forwarder

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Freight Forwarder to join our dynamic customs and international trade team in Amsterdam.
The Freight Forwarder will work closely with carriers, customs officials, and clients to facilitate the smooth flow of shipment, and be responsible for coordinating and managing the transportation of goods, ensuring efficient and timely movement across international borders. The ideal candidate will have experience as an Import/Export Multimodal Freight Forwarder or one or more of the following: Sea, Air, Ocean and Road Freight Forwarding.

Responsibilities:
Shipment Coordination:

• Plan and coordinate the transportation of goods from origin to destination.
• Liaise with carriers, shipping lines, and other transportation providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

Customs Clearance:

• Work closely with customs officials to ensure compliance with international customs regulations.
• Prepare and submit required documentation for customs clearance.

Documentation:

• Generate and manage shipping and export documentation.
• Verify accuracy and completeness of all shipping-related documents.

Client Communication:

• Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing updates on shipment status and addressing inquiries.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their specific shipping requirements and preferences.

Rate Negotiation:

• Negotiate freight rates with carriers and other service providers to optimise costs.
• Analyse and select the most cost-effective and efficient transportation methods.

Problem Resolution:

• Address and resolve any issues or delays in the transportation process.
• Proactively communicate and find solutions to potential challenges.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay informed about changes in international trade regulations and customs procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Freight Forwarder or in a similar logistics role.
• Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures, regulations, and documentation.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Highly proficient in English, and Dutch.
• Detail-oriented with strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency in using logistics and supply chain management software.

Preferred Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Certification in Freight Forwarding or Customs Brokerage.
• Familiarity with Incoterms and international trade terms.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
