We are seeking an experienced IT Project Lead to join our WB TS Reporting & Cards team within Wholesale Banking Tech (WB Tech). In this role, you will take charge of leading multiple projects across different Dev Ops squads, ensuring coordination and alignment of project planning and delivery. You will be responsible for removing obstacles, streamlining communication, and delivering software solutions on time and within budget, all while meeting critical business needs.
You will start by setting up a test environment and then take ownership of various business projects. One of your key responsibilities will be ensuring that payment statements are delivered to wholesale banking customers at the beginning and end of each day. This task is essential, as customers need timely access to their accounts, especially during outages or disruptions. Experience in setting up a test environment will be highly valuable, and although you won’t need to code, you’ll need a solid technical understanding to challenge and guide the squads. The teams work with Java and an Oracle database.
You will oversee the execution of Quarterly Business Review (QBR) agreements by various squads. Although you won’t be responsible for managing a specific squad, your role will involve ensuring that all squads align with project goals and timelines. Ideally, you have experience working in the banking sector and an Agile environment. While payments experience is a plus, it is not a requirement.
You’ll collaborate with the squads in the Area and work with back offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, and other countries. On Tuesdays, when all squads are in the office, your presence will be expected. Thursdays are also a key office day, and your attendance is preferred.

Your responsibilities:

- Collaborate with customer journey experts and business analysts to ensure business requirements are clearly defined.
- Work closely with solution and domain architects to align on project designs.
- Establish and manage feature planning, fostering cooperation across squads and ensuring on-time delivery.
- Oversee the setup of a test environment and take ownership of various business projects, such as the timely delivery of payment statements.
- Facilitate end-to-end testing to ensure that delivered features meet both business and technical expectations.
- Use your technical expertise to challenge and guide squads, ensuring alignment with QBR commitments.
- Maintain strong communication with back offices across different countries.
Who are you?
Skills and experience:
- You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- You have proven leadership experience with a track record in IT project management and Agile delivery.
- You have experience in coordinating and aligning multiple projects across Dev Ops squads.
- You possess knowledge of Java, databases (especially Oracle), and related technologies. Experience with payments is a plus.
- You have strong communication skills, with the ability to challenge and guide teams effectively.
- Experience in the banking sector is preferred, particularly in customer reporting or payments.
- You are proactive with a strong drive to deliver results on time.
- You are a team player who motivates and influences others effectively.
- You work in a structured, detail-oriented way, while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
- You are self-organizing, pragmatic, and always seeking improvement opportunities.
- You are resilient, patient, and capable of handling complex tasks.
- You are eager to learn and stay up-to-date with new technologies and methodologies.
What we offer:
- Initial 12-month contract with the intention of transitioning to a permanent contract at ING.
- 36/40 hour work week.
- Salary range: €5.996,00 - €6.950,00 gross per month (based on 40 hours per week).
- Holiday payments and a 13th month salary.
- Full pension in accordance with the Dutch temporary labour CLA.
- Hybrid working environment (in-office and remote flexibility).
- Freelancers/ZZP can apply if registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (Kv K), with an hourly rate of €85,00 to €97,50.
