Legal Counsel - Maritime

Your key responsibilities:
- Provide legal support on various legal matters within the organization.
- Review tender documents and offer legal guidance during contract negotiations.
- Draft commercial contracts, joint venture agreements, and other legal documents such as minutes, shareholder agreements, and powers of attorney.
- Assist with ship sales, acquisitions, and flag registrations.
- Set up new legal structures and amend existing local entities as needed.
- Manage legal disputes, coordinate external advisors, and oversee legal proceedings.
- Develop and standardize legal processes, including templates, policies, and compliance models.
- Stay updated on legal developments, regulations, and case law, and provide relevant advice to stakeholders.

They have a team of over 2,500 colleagues delivering safe, reliable operations in challenging environments. The legal department, based in South Holland, oversees all legal matters within the organization.

- A completed bachelor’s and master’s degree in law.
- Relevant work experience as a legal professional in an international setting, preferably within the maritime or oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of international contract law, corporate law, and ideally experience with claim handling and maritime insurances.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to balance legal risks and business interests.
- Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Fluent English (spoken and written).
- Eligibility to work in the Netherlands.
