We are seeking a skilled Power BI Specialist to develop and maintain insightful, visually appealing dashboards and robust data models that support key business insights. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to understand management information needs, creating and managing semantic models, and implementing complex data relationships in Power BI and SQL Server. The Specialist will work closely with the data engineering team to optimize ETL pipelines, ensuring high-quality data integration across Microsoft Fabric and data warehouse environments. Key responsibilities also include data governance and documentation to support team knowledge sharing.

We are seeking a skilled Power BI Specialist to develop and maintain insightful, visually appealing dashboards and robust data models that support key business insights. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to understand management information needs, creating and managing semantic models, and implementing complex data relationships in Power BI and SQL Server. The Specialist will work closely with the data engineering team to optimize ETL pipelines, ensuring high-quality data integration across Microsoft Fabric and data warehouse environments. Key responsibilities also include data governance and documentation to support team knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and translate management information requirements and collaboratively define KPIs, developing them into clear, insightful, and visually appealing Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Develop and maintain robust semantic models in Power BI, using advanced DAX functions to enhance datasets, build measures and deliver accurate, meaningful analytics for users.
- Create data relationships and develop multidimensional data models (star schema) in Power BI and SQL Server, leveraging SQL views and filtering to support complex analysis.
- Collaborate with the data engineering team to create and optimize ETL/ELT data pipelines, ensuring seamless data integration and data quality across data warehouse and Microsoft Fabric environments.
- Manage governance, structure, and best practices within Power BI and Microsoft Fabric environment to ensure data integrity, security, and optimal performance.
- Maintain documentation for dashboards/reports and promote data governance best practices to support team knowledge sharing.

Competencies are key, but to be successful in this role you need to bring a few essentials to kickstart the conversation:
- Power BI Expertise – including DAX, Power Query, Measures, Matrix, One Lake data hub and data modelling.
- SQL Proficiency – Strong SQL skills, particularly within SQL Server, Azure Synapse and data warehouse environments.
- Data Warehousing and Star Schema Modelling – Knowledge of data warehousing principles, with expertise in transforming data into star schemas for efficient data processing.
- Data Pipeline and ETL Knowledge – Experience with data integration techniques, ETL processes, and Azure Data Factory.
- Azure Services – Proficiency in Azure tools (e.g., Synapse, Data Lake, ADLS Storage, Share Point) for effective data storage and processing.
