As a Scientist at Covestro in Waalwijk, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development of innovative products and solutions in the field of Acrylics, Urethane/Acrylic Hybrids & Additives technology.

You will steer product development and new technology projects that contribute to Covestro’s ambitious R&D goals, especially within our Business Line (CA).

In this role, you will apply cutting-edge technologies to scale up products from concept to commercial manufacturing, ensuring the successful execution of projects aligned with our business strategy.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product and New Technology Development:

Develop and scale up new products and technology concepts based on market needs, aligning with innovation roadmaps.
Based on strong science lead projects through design, experimentation, and execution, ensuring timely delivery of R&D results.

Scale-Up & Manufacturing Support:

Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure successful scale-up of products in the pilot plant.
Support operations in producing large-scale batches with stable quality.

Leadership & Collaboration:

Work closely with a team of 10-15 R&D specialists, including scientists and lab technicians, and provide scientific guidance/supervision and coaching.
Collaborate with internal teams such as Market Development, Technical Product Management, and Global Manufacturing.

Intellectual Property & Compliance:

Stay proactive in identifying IP opportunities, generating IP, and conducting Freedom to Operate (FTO) studies.
Ensure compliance with HSEQ standards, contributing to a safe and healthy workplace.

Innovation & Value Add:

Innovate in Acrylics, Urethane/Acrylic Hybrids & Additives to support Covestro’s sustainability and business growth initiatives.
Develop products that enhance customer solutions and support business development.

WHO ARE YOU?

You have a master’s or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Material Science with a solid background in customer-driven R&D projects.
You have over >5 years of relevant experience, preferably in Acrylic or Urethane/ Acrylic dispersions.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges in a dynamic customer driven organization.
Excellent communication skills, capable of working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

an excellent salary of minimum € 72.022 to a maximum € 109.819 (Scale VS 1.1). This includes vacation allowance. You can also make annual steps within your salary scale.
25 vacation days and the possibility to buy more days.
a Benefit Shop budget of 7% of your annual salary. You can use this budget to buy extra leave, to purchase a bicycle in a tax-friendly way or to have it paid out.
Profit-Sharing Bonus (PSP): Depending on the salary grade, the target bonus percentage is 5%. The maximum payout can reach up to 12.5%.
Do you travel business kilometers with your own transportation? Then you will receive a mileage allowance of € 0.36 per kilometer, of which € 0.23 is untaxed. (with a maximum of 60km per day)
a home work allowance of € 2.35 per day if you can work from home.
