Technical Support Specialist

Your role as TSS
The Technical Support Specialist (TSS) is working within our aftermarket business, which is part of our Engineering department, and reports to the Manager TSS of Weir Minerals Venlo. The TSS department takes care of technical support to our customers (directly or via our local distributors or account managers) with the goal of creating After Market business by e.g., resolving customer complaints and increasing customer satisfaction. The scope of the technical support is limited to our GEHO pumps and ENDURON High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR).
TSS is involved in troubleshooting support, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), coordination of field tests and making technical proposals for upgrades, repairs and/or reconditioning. In addition, TSS will analyse the production process and monitoring field data to understand specific wear on components of equipment in the field in order to provide suggestions for efficiency and optimization towards our customers. TSS will coordinate, organize and analyse (technical) customer queries and provide a ‘’win-win’’ solution. A TSS is creative enough to turn issues into opportunities and their work will lead to a better product portfolio.
TSS will work together with multiple regional stakeholders like, customers/ distributors, account managers and service technicians. Internally, TSS will work closely together with Engineering, Spare Parts, Sales and our Technology Group (VTG).
Good to know:
As part of this role, you will have to travel towards customers to provide your technical input for support that will improve the relationship with the customer and turn into commercial opportunities to grow the aftermarket business. You can think of 10- to 15% of your working time travelling, which will be around 3 travel moments per year.
Responsibilities
A selection of your tasks and responsibilities:
- Improving and maintaining customers relationships. You will create aftermarket business by converting aftermarket queries into a commercial and technical solution.
- You will support your own region and hand over your technical/ commercial solution towards the internal stakeholders.
- You will work on After Market- procedures and work instructions for service, repairs and upgrades. You will also create Safety Alerts and Technical announcements and communicate these to your region.
- You will manage (customer) non-conformities (NC’s) into WEIR’s quality management system and resolve a short-term solution for technical customer related NC’s.

Skills & qualifications
- Completed education on bachelor degree level within Mechanical- Electrical- or Industrial Engineering (or similar);
- You have at least 3- 5 years work experience in a similar role;
- You are fluent in English. Next to that the Dutch language is preferred
- You have experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP;

- You are technically strong and have a commercial mindset. You know how to convert a technical advice into a commercial solution to grow the aftermarket business. You are able to take commercial decisions, but commonly in consultation with Sales and/ or with Manager TSS;
- You have a sense of responsibility of your output towards our customers and the development of our product portfolio;
- Strong communicator and knowing how to prioritize various stakeholders within an international environment;
- You bring a result driven mindset. You have a result-oriented approach and can coordinate projects independently;
- You are able to share your knowledge to train/ support others (e.g. our colleagues in the region);
- You are flexible and you can easily adapt to a changing environment.
