Columbus Cafe Whangarei is looking for a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time basis (30+ hours per week). This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about cooking and ready to thrive in a fast-paced café environment.
We are seeking candidates with at least 3 years of experience in a cafe kitchen or a similar environment or a Formal cookery qualification equivalent to New Zealand Certificate Level 4 qualification
The ideal candidate should have a strong skill set for handling short orders, particularly during busy morning breakfast and lunch shifts. You must be able to multitask, manage your time efficiently, and keep the kitchen area clean and organised under pressure.
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is essential, as well as a good understanding of stock ordering and rotation to ensure minimal wastage. We are looking for someone who is keen to grow with the business, has good communication skills, and possesses a strong work ethic.
You should be punctual, reliable, able to work without supervision, and available to work on weekends. Being a team player is crucial, as is the ability to perform well under pressure and deliver exceptional customer service.
