We have an opportunity to join BNZ's Technology Core Systems leadership tīma (team) as Head of Engineering- Centre of Excellence.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We sat down with our GM Core Systems, and they let us know the following about the tūranga (role).
What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this tūranga will complete?
Deeply technical, respectful and collaborative.
What projects / mahi (work) will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
The impact it can have on one of New Zealand's largest tech shops. This is a significant challenge but one that is absolutely critical for BNZ to succeed. Your peers and your tīma are all well respected experts in their fields.
What will success look like for the candidate in this tūranga?
Driving execution of a strategy that resonates well across technology and drives measurable outcomes.
What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this tūranga?
This is an opportunity for an inspiring leader who has the ability to drive consensus not only with their direct reports, but more importantly with across the business. You will have the ability to cut through the noise and deliver outcomes that have significant impact.

What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this tūranga will complete?
- Develop and implement a technology-wide engineering strategy that aligns with BNZ's strategic ambition and technology strategy.
- Influence the priorities of key core domains to drive the adoption of new technologies and the decommissioning of old technologies.
- Build and lead a high-performing leadership team and domain. Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Represent engineering at an executive level to underline the critical nature of engineering, highlight opportunities and align investment with engineering strategy.
- Responding to emerging issues.
- Managing finances for the domain.
Deeply technical, respectful and collaborative.
What projects / mahi (work) will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
- Five Flavours and Standardisation.
- Dev Sec Ops.
- CLR support.
- End of life and Hygiene initiatives

- 7+ years of software delivery team leadership across large complex organisations and diverse technology environments.
- Successful establishment and execution of Dev Ops strategies.
