Mangere

FULL TIME

October 24, 2024

Mō mātau (About us)
As a proudly indigenous tertiary educator, ‘tauira success’ is our mission and ‘whānau transformation through education’ is our vision, guiding our commitment to delivering quality education programmes underpinned by Māori culture and values.
Our kaimahi (employees) enjoy a whānau-friendly workplace and a great range of benefits to support their wellbeing and that of their whānau:
  • Free health and life insurance for permanent employees.
  • Four extra leave days each year to celebrate Matariki and Christmas, plus special leave available for those involved in cultural or sporting events.
  • Flexible work hours and work-from-home options for some roles.
  • Free car parking at our main campuses.

Mō tēnei mahi (About this job)

We are looking for two experienced Kaiako to deliver our Te Ara Reo Māori programme using the Ako Whakatere methodology and techniques. This permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) role starts in in January 2025. We have one role based in Māngere and the other role based in Waitākere.
Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, presenting material, responding to tauira needs, and evaluating their progress. Rangahau (research) is encouraged for Kaiako delivering this programme. Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings may be required.

Mōu (About you)

We are looking for someone who is fluent in Te Reo Māori and possesses a deep understanding tikanga Māori, and we well-versed in teaching methods that inspire and engage our tauira.
You will bring with you:
  • A Diploma Te Reo Māori or a higher qualification
  • New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete this during their first year of employment
  • Full and current New Zealand Driver’s License
  • Experience teaching Te Reo Māori
  • Experience with Ako whakatere methods of teaching, learning and delivery
  • Proven adult teaching experience
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
Tonoa i tēnei rā! (Apply today!)
If we’ve outlined a role that matches your capabilities and aspirations, and a workplace that appeals, apply today as applications will close as soon as we have a suitable shortlist.
