The opportunity - Te tūranga
As News Editor, you will ensure high-quality NCA content on TVNZ+ platforms to maximise audience and revenue. Maintain accuracy and keep the audience in mind. Perform thorough editorial checks, balancing speed to publish with quality. Provide daily coverage according to the TVNZ+ News Curation and Editorial Strategies, prioritising editorial pillars and audience.
You will lead the vision for News on TVNZ+ by choosing the top video news content from across NCA to publish on the platform.
This position is an 8-week fixed-term contract commencing on 30th September 2024

To be successful in the role, we are looking for the following
- Excellent editorial judgement to make content New Zealanders want to watch and you'll demonstrate strong story selection, helping make News on TVNZ+ a must visit destination.
- Strong technical skills to understand and improve any processes regarding the workflow for getting content to TVNZ+
- Curiosity and a desire to experiment in the digital first space.
- Excellent understanding of digital platforms and show "digital first" thinking.
- Ensure editorial output meets legal and ethical requirements, is high quality and error free.
- Understand data so you can easily monitor analytics tools to help inform decision making.
- Have a commercial mindset and be able to keep TVNZ's strategy and targets front of mind as you make decisions.
- Wealth of experience in journalism in the media industry, specifically in news.
- Digital experience and understanding of the domestic and international digital and broadcast markets.
- Be able to manage time and resources effectively, able to work to deadlines, prioritise multiple demands and tasks.
- Production skills in both digital and broadcast news environments.
- Strong leader of people
