Paediatric Occupational Therapist

About the Role and Service
The Child Development team at Whangarei Hospital is looking to expand services for our tamariki and whānau in Te Tai Tokerau / Northland and are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our wonderful team. Ideally you will need to be available for permanent full-time, 40 hours per week between Monday – Friday. However, there may be some flexibility for the right candidates.
What we do:
- We provide Occupational Therapy services as part of a wide multi-disciplinary team.
- We work alongside children and whānau to achieve their life goals and aspirations
- Provide therapy, equipment and housing solutions
- Work with whānau in the community (home based visits), and onsite clinics
- Early intervention focused including Early intervention services in schools and preschools as part of the child’s team
Skills & Experience
- Relevant Occupational Therapy Qualification
- Current Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand (OTBNZ)
- Previous experience in Paediatrics and/or neurological rehabilitation is highly desirable
- Aware of Occupational Therapy theory and principles of practice
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team and establish and maintain working relationships between staff and clients
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
