Based in Auckland, this is a pivotal role which is responsible for driving revenue growth through identifying, developing, and specifically onboarding strategic commercial partnerships for MTF Finance. This position requires a high degree of commercial acumen, comfort working with digital products, and strong relationship skills. This role requires confidence negotiating complex commercial partnership agreements that create value for MTF Finance and our partner, and strong project management skills to mobilise cross-functional stakeholders for seamless onboarding. This role oversees the development and delivery of financial products and services to commercial clients, executing on Commercial Partnership opportunities and managing initiatives that will add new revenue streams to MTF. As such, it requires confidence to chart new territory, an ability to remove roadblocks and look for solutions.
This role is the shop window to MTF and shapes the experience we provide new Commercial Partners. Working closely with commercial partnership colleagues, product managers, marketing, sales and finance, this role will identify business opportunities to develop compelling financial solutions in a variety of sectors, growing MTF’s reach and positioning MTF Finance as a preferred financial services partner.
Just some of the things you’re responsible for:
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new commercial partnership opportunities through market research, networking, and lead generation activities in line with MTF 3-year strategy
- Manage the partnership development and onboarding cycle, including negotiating and structuring mutually beneficial agreements and contracts
- Develop compelling business proposals, presentations, and pitch decks which ‘sell’ MTF products and solutions to potential and existing commercial partners
- Lead the ideation of technical partnership product solutions (recourse/non-recourse/white-labelled/floorplan) in conjunction with MTF Product team
- Craft partnership commercial structures which position MTF as a competitive market offering whilst maximising profitability for shareholders.
- Track, monitor and deliver revenue in line with the MTF partnerships budget.
- Maintain comprehensive awareness and knowledge of industry trends, competitors, regulatory changes, and market conditions; and share this knowledge to ensure MTF can respond quickly to opportunities and challenges
- Manage and oversee the successful execution of commercial partnership projects, ensuring deliverables are met on time, within budget
- Coordinate and lead projects, delegating tasks, owning timelines, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to develop and deliver tailored solutions that will deliver value for MTF Finance and commercial partners
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement contingency plans as needed
- Prepare and present reports to stakeholders, including senior leaders, commercial partners, and our own teams
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce or Business Administration (or similar degree)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, with a proven track record of effectively managing commercial partnerships and projects, ideally within the financial services sector
- Strong commercial acumen and numeric reasoning. This role requires someone with a proven track record of understanding financial statements, meeting revenue goals and other financial KPI’s.
- Strong experience working on projects encompassing digital product design, build, integration or optimisation
- Exceptional leadership and influence skills, with demonstrated ability to own your area of the business
- A strong relationship manager with excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- In-depth knowledge of financial products, services, and regulations
- Automotive finance and floorplan experience advantageous though not essential
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Highly proficient in project management methodologies and technology (e.g., Microsoft Project), with proven success leveraging technology to drive productivity (e.g. generative ai)
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong customer service orientation
