The City Rail Link (CRL) Project is a game changer for Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland and is the largest transport infrastructure project ever undertaken in Aotearoa. The CRL is a 3.45km twin tunnel, transforming the dead-end station at Waitematā (Britomart), creating two new stations at Te Wai Horotiu (Aotea) and Karanga ā Hape (K-Road) and reconnecting to the network at a redeveloped Maungawhau (Mt Eden station). The Link Alliance is a consortium of local and international construction companies responsible for delivering the tunnelling, stations, and the systems contracts.

Te Tūranga | The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Property Advisor to join our Project team on a permanent full-time basis.
We have reached a critical phase of the Project with land definition, acquisitions, compensation resolution, stakeholder engagement and the development and implementation of processes important for the successful close-out of the Project. This unique opportunity will provide the successful candidate full programme visibility and significant experience to leverage into future inhouse or consultancy work.
Ngā Haepapa | Key tasks and responsibilities:
The Principal Property Advisor contributes to the delivery of CRL objectives by leading the remaining property acquisitions and development of critical Project property handover and disposal processes. In addition, the role is responsible for formalising land acquisitions through the legalisation programme as well as collaborating with our professional advisors in compensation resolution processes. The successful candidate will gain exposure to complex land survey processes and wider Project close-out matters.
This role will work closely with the Delivery functions of CRL (Utilities, Urban Realm, Planning), CRL Finance and Legal, the Auckland Council Property and Legal Departments and LINZ to ensure CRL property acquisition and disposal programmes are developed and implemented in accordance with statutory provisions and best practice.
Ou Pukenga | About You:
The work is varied and complex, so we are looking for someone who is open-minded, solutions-focused, curious to learn and able to think outside the box to identify risks while maintaining delivery milestones:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in law (preferred) or property.
- Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in local government, central government, or private consultancy.
- Comprehensive understanding of NZ regulatory framework, standards, legislation & best practice.
- Applied knowledge of the Public Works Act 1981.
- Proven ability to deliver complex programmes of work.

- Ability to focus on the big picture to provide pragmatic and practical advice.
