The Emergency Management team has a varied and wide range of responsibilities that encompass strategy, legislation, planning and working with other health and government agencies in safe guarding the public health system and its communities. Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
As the Principal Advisor, Emergency Management, you hold a key role with the Emergency Management Team in the Public Health Agency. You will be responsible for providing high level advice to the team on strategic crisis management related issues, which either impact, or have the potential to impact the health and disability system. In addition, the Principal Advisor has a role in any strategic emergency response to national emergencies and emerging health threats.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- A relevant tertiary qualification in an Emergency Management, Health, or relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Expert knowledge and experience in the Health and Disability system, Health Emergency Management and Civil Defence Emergency Management Sector including knowledge of CIMS and its application to Emergency Management
- Significant experience in leading and presenting complex problems solving and planning tools applicable to emergency management
- Proven experience of complex leading health system emergency management planning projects
- Significant experience in working in emergencies or public health outbreak responses; managing volunteers in an emergency response setting; maintaining and enhancing emergency operations centres
- An understanding knowledge of the Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Act 2002, the CDEM Plan Order 2005 and Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS)
- Demonstrated experience and expertise to influence in order to support effective decision making, and the ability to identify future risks and opportunities, while developing timely and accurate responses and mitigations
