Quantity Surveyor/Contract Administrator

As an international company we are looking for Quantity Surveyor / Contract Administrator and who will work in Christchurch.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 + years’ experience in a commercial/contract administration role supporting/leading the cost and contract management functions on civil engineering projects
- Relevant tertiary or professional qualifications
- EPC or EPCM experience
- Experience of Subcontract and Supplier Procurement
- Demonstrable experience managing Head and Subcontract agreements in New Zealand on a Design & Construct (Build) basis.
- Demonstrable experience managing Head and Subcontract agreements in Australia Design & Construct (Build) basis.
- Ability to measure and value variations as may be required due to design changes or a change principals requirements
- Experience using Procore
- Willingness to Travel
- Strong organisation skills and high attention to detail
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word
- Ability to prioritise work tasks according to urgency
- Experience building and maintaining strong customer relationships
Reporting to the Commercial Contracts Manager (APAC Region) the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for collaborating with the Procurement and Design Engineering teams to ensure accurate quotations are prepared during the bid process for new projects. Upon the commencement of a new project, the QS will be required to support the construction delivery team under the Head Contract with analysing and managing contract variations, progress
Quantity Surveying

- Contribute costing expertise to the Bid team for project tender proposals.
- Attend project design meetings to ensure clarity of project requirements and offer value engineering solutions.
- Support estimators with take-off measurements for Schedule of Quantity Preparation.
- Support procurement with the negotiations and appointment of trade subcontractors, consultants and suppliers, including defining scope of work/services, agreeing conditions of contract, preparing subcontracts, fee agreements and purchase orders.
- Evaluate unsuccessful quotations and tenders for trends and/or errors.
- Provide support to the Project Manager and Finance team by monitoring project budgets verses actual costs and assist with the preparation of monthly cashflow forecasts.
- Work closely with the finance team to track expenditure and identify potential cost savings.
- In conjunction with the Project Manager prepare regular reporting on project progress including performance against budget and programme together with any other key metrics as may be required by stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project scheduler/planner and construction team to ensure the timely submission of progress claims and reports.
- Assist the project manager with the preparation of payment claims under the Head contract ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation.
- Assist the Project Manager with the evaluation of subcontractor, supplier and consultant payment claims ensuring any work carried out is fully compliant with the Head Contract.
- Prepare and submit variation orders and contractual notices under both the Head and Subcontracts.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts, change orders and project documentation ensuring these are effectively organised and available for use as part of client reporting requirements.
- Prepare and agree Subcontractor final accounts.
- Support the Commercial Contract Manager with the preparation and/or defence of contractual claims under the Head or Subcontract.
- Strong focus on identifying and suggesting ways to improve practices and processes that are hampering the smooth operation of the day to day running of the project.
- Support the development of innovative strategies to ensure operational efficiencies, processes and practices.
- Proactively seek opportunities to save unnecessary costs to the project (without compromising quality).
- Contribute to the project review process, ensuring problems identified and possible solutions developed and feedback to operations team.
- Demonstrate collaborative and inclusive personal leadership, empowering others to perform by providing advice, support and assistance as needed.
