The role of Research Administrator is to work alongside the Post-award Team and provide support for the financial administration of research and consultancy agreements using approved University systems and in line with policies and processes. This role will help to maximise the University's outcomes with respect to managing research and consultancy income.
The type of tasks the Research Administrator would complete includes:
- Entering payment schedules and purchase orders
- Running regular invoice and debt reports
- Generating accounts receivable invoices
- Tracking funding owing and follow up on unpaid invoices
- Providing ad hoc information to researchers and departments on research and consultancy expenditure
- Generate transaction analysis reports to assist in tracking and reporting expenditure.
You will have a strong foundation in financial administration together with excellent time management, strong relationship building skills, and an eye for detail. In this diverse role you be able to work independently and collaboratively when required.
You will be able to demonstrate experience (2-3 years) in:
- Using databases and finance systems
- Practical understanding and application of financial processes, including invoicing and financial reporting
- Excellent competency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel
- Accurate data entry
- Practical understanding and application of contract administration

The role of Research & Innovation is to provide end-to-end services which facilitate and support all stages of research and innovation development, from initial funding through to commercialisation, where appropriate. Research & Innovation provides support and assistance to the University's academic staff in their quest for research funding and other support. The unit is the University's liaison with funding bodies, industry and business, and oversees all contracts relating to research, consultancy and commercialisation.
