The Faculty of Dentistry | Te Kaupeka Pūniho has an international reputation for clinical and research excellence. Founded in 1907, it is New Zealand's National Centre for Dentistry. It forms an integral part of the Division of Health Sciences within the University of Otago, in Dunedin.
As Senior Facilities Coordinator at the Faculty of Dentistry (the “Dental School”), you will work in a supportive team environment where no two days are the same. You will be the hands-on problem solver supporting the building facilities, cleaning and care of building related services, and in particular, the Faculty’s dental hospital.
Te mahi / The role
In this role, you are the go-to person for students, staff, patients and Property Services to ensure our building facilities run smoothly and efficiently. You will be the person people will call if there is an issue with anything in the building (lift function, doors, lights, toilets etc). From identifying and managing building maintenance requirements; coordinating repairs to handling hazardous waste; dealing with patient incidents and accidents, stocking the clinical areas with clinical resources and even delivering tea and coffee; this is a varied and busy role, providing exceptional service every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Point of contact for maintenance activities and associate grounds.
  • Oversight of building security and response to emergency calls.
  • Ensure the building environment is safe, clean, and functioning at its best.
  • Liaise with staff around any building requirements changes or additions (ie anything required to be attached to walls or doors).
  • Oversee and manage stock deliveries, supplies and laundry services.
  • Monitor and respond to maintenance issues and liaise with contractors.
  • Manage stock and distribution to staff and students of uniforms, and keys (building keys and locker keys).
  • Monitor and report any damage to the building.
  • Act as a Fire Warden and emergency responder.
  • Provide support to student functions.

  • Enthusiastic with a positive outlook, ready to tackle any task.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) to track tasks, keys, manage orders, and maintain records.
