Division: Corporate
Job type: Senior Travel Specialist
Location: New Zealand
At TAG, our company values matter. Each member of our staff should exemplify Teamwork, an Ambitious spirit and a Genuine attitude.

You will have a passion for the job you do, as well as a drive to want to do better—in return, TAG will support your growth and development, as well as offer opportunities to progress or maybe even change tack!

The What
As a Senior Travel Specialist you will have a diverse and varied role. Here are just some of the things you’ll be getting involved with:
  • Plan and sell a range of travel services, including air and ground transport, accommodation, insurance and other related travel services to allocated corporate client accounts
  • Provide expert consultation and manage the flight reservation process, ticket issuance and reissues for all of your accounts
  • Fully service all enquiries, requests, bookings and ticketing to TAG standards, including documentation, and assist more junior colleagues on more complex enquiries
  • Ensure all air, rail, hotel and/or other ancillary reservations meet company standards and client expectations and ensure client and booking files are maintained in relevant systems
  • Formulate logistical itinerary plans to deliver practical travel solutions, ensuring that budgets and specific client requirements are met
  • Handling VIP travel to the necessary standard
  • Deal with any post-booking queries, rectifying any requested changes and efficiently processing reissues where required
  • Effectively manage any travel problems, changes or disruptions and assist with handling complaints or refunds
  • Negotiate or utilise negotiated rates from suppliers to secure beneficial financial outcomes for TAG
  • Have awareness of and successfully deliver profit and sales targets in relation to own client portfolio, continually looking for opportunities to maximise revenue and margin
  • Operate in accordance with client service level agreements (SLAs) and TAG policies and standards
  • Complete all PNRs and files accurately and promptly, ensuring all QC points are met as standard
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and form strong client and supplier relationships
  • Assisting less experienced consultants with questions and training
The How
To be successful at TAG is as much about mindset and attitude as it is about skill set and qualifications. We’re a team who share the same desire and passion to go above and beyond for each and every client. We revel in making the seemingly impossible possible, always rising to the challenge with ambition and a genuine, open attitude.
We work flexibly to accommodate our TAG team colleagues, meaning on occasion there could be requirements ‘outside of office hours’ to manage time zones and other work commitments. As a Senior Travel Specialist there are several credentials and attributes which would be advantageous, but a determined attitude and willingness to learn, are equally important.
  • Certificate, diploma or degree in tourism/travel OR in lieu of education, equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience within a travel agency
  • Good knowledge and understanding of airfares, contracted fares, ticketing and reissues
  • 5+ GDS experience (Galileo preferred)
  • Versed in booking flights, hotels and a good understanding of published airfares
  • Experience handling VIP, entertainment clients and/or group travel
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite, and familiar with/ability to use TAG’s travel systems, including Travelport Galileo, Tramada NG, TAGdesktop and the relevant online booking tool utilized by each client (Serko – Zeno, Locomote or Concur for Travel)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well established organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or within a team environment
  • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing environment
  • Excellent customer service and negotiation skills
  • Proactive and self-starter
  • Problem-solving and multitasking skills with ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and think outside of the box
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of fares, negotiated contracted fares, ticketing and reissue
  • Excellent customer service skills internally and externally
The Where & When
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week), based in our Wellington or Auckland office. You will report into the Director of Events & Private Travel NZ, who is based in Wellington. There are other regional agent teams based in Australia, Singapore, the UK and US that you may work closely with, too.
The Important Bit
As passionate as you may be about changing the face of travel, let’s be honest—you're not doing this for free. So, here’s our promise to you:
  • Competitive salary
  • Wellness/EAP programme
  • Employee discounts
We are also committed to offering an equal opportunity for all employees and applicants.
How to Apply
We want to know a bit about you. Send a cover letter outlining why you think TAG is a good fit for you and an up-to-date CV to HRAPAC@tag-group.com.
